"Are we going to the house here or the one in Castro?" Cliff asked. "Uh... I'm not sure but can you take me to this record store. I need to get my paycheck and quit. I'm not going 30 minutes to work at a shitty record store." I said. He nodded. "Turn on Sander street. It'll be about three blocks down." I said.

He turned as the street came up. "Right here." I said point at the shop. He parked and got out. I walked in and it was some girl I had never seen before. "Hey is Rob here?" I asked her. She looked me up and down before nodding over to the records.

I faked a smile at her and walked over to where she gestured as the bell dinged at the front door. "Hey Rob! Uh... So I'm gonna need my paycheck. I also am quitting. I'm moving over to Castro Valley and I can't walk here everyday." I said. He looked at me and nodded. "Let me go get your check." He said getting up.

I looked at the records he had just put up. Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath sat right in front of me. I had been looking for this for a minute. I grabbed it and went up front. The girl who was at the front was talking to Cliff.

She was twirling her hair and smacking her gum while giggling. Seeing that sight made me cringe. "Here's your check. Oh I was just about to tell you that came in, I know you've been looking for it." Rob said, handing me the paper slip.

"Thank you Rob." I said smiling and walking to the counter. I sat the vinyl on the counter and cleared my throat. "What?" She said with a nasty tone. "Oh I'm sorry for interrupting your convo! I guess I'll just walk out without paying." I said picking it up.

"It's $12.67." She said turning towards Cliff. I grabbed my wallet but Cliff already had the money out. "Why are you gonna play for her? She's just a weird satanic girl?" She said, looking at him.

He turned to her with mad eyes. "First she's not a satanist second don't you ever speak about her like that again." he said with a straight face. Her expression dropped and he left the money on the counter. "Let's go Em." He said, grabbing the record.

I looked at the ground and followed him out. "You didn't have to do that." I said once we got to the truck. "Well I did. There's nothing you can do about it now." He said once he was in the truck.

He handed me the record and smiled at me. "thank you." I said in a small voice. He nodded and started the truck.

We went to and ATM then we drove in a comfortable silence. When we got back to Lars' he was outside in the truck with James. "Ember knows where the house is." Lars said. "So what happened with Dave?" I asked.

"We'll tell you when we get there." James said. We started the trucks and started driving. "Do you have any music?" I asked. He reached over and opened the glove compartment. It was filled to the top with tapes.

I dug through them before finding Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd by Lynyrd Skynyrd. I put it in and Tuesday's Gone starts playing. "You like Lynyrd Skynyrd?" He asked tapping along with the song. "Of course! If you don't like them you're weird." I said swaying with the song. He smirked his famous smirk and nodded.

We listened to the album as we drove, the only thing filling the silence was the music and the occasional humming.

When Simple Man came on I felt my body tense. This was my dads favorite song. He would always sing it to me when I would get scared. My dad's voice was so similar to Ronnie Van Zant's voice. I felt a tear start to slip from my eye. I wiped it away and looked out the window.

"Oh take your time. Don't live too fast." Cliff sang very lightly. His voice went with the song well. After a while we made it to the house.
