A Poet's Tears

I now know why

all poets cry

and they write poetry

just to get by

because tears

spawn from fears

when you're stuck in the headlights

like an innocent, caged deer

stuck on the road

with no place to go

tell me

what all do you know?

Do you know why I cry?

So often, late at night?

Do you know that you're the cause

sometimes?

Understand that all poets are not the same

because although we play the same game

we don't write each word like the rest

we have our own name

so I now know why things don't always go to plan

why I've always tried not to give a damn

and why my poetry is almost always depressing

because I'm so fucking sad.
