could take away what is mine

didn't become mine

and high school romances

didn't become my problem to solve

I wish I was selfish

so I could be happy 90% of the time

but instead, I'm selfless

and if you're sad, I'm sad

and I'll never be fully happy

until you are

I wish I could be selfish

and tell you that you're mine

but you're mine to share

and I just don't want to

I want to hold you close

and never let go

because you're the only damn thing

that makes me happy

in this world

that I so often hate.
