Bony shoulders
tell of past mistakes
of trying to starve herself in the name of beauty
"just lose a few pounds, dear"
A few pounds turns into 10, 20, 30, on and on and on
until one day, she gave up
she said those words tha were not ladylike
said "fuck this, fuck that, fuck you"
and left
with her bony shoulders intact
acne scars and knife cuts
from battles fought
upon her bony shoulders
the world laid
she was a fighter without a fight
and she couldn't go on
without fighting
so she fought, and she won
upon her bony shoulders grew a pair of wings
soft and white, yet a core of cowhide
hid beneath the beautiful feathers
because she was strong
she was tough
and those wings
now lie
upon those bony little shoulders
Damn, you outta see her fly.
