Strength

scientifically, cold is only the absence of heat

and I have been told that strength is the absence of weakness

but that's a lie.

people say that I'm strong.

I am NOT strong.

there are times when even I cry

when even I break down in tears for nothing

that turn out to be tears for something

there are times where I've stood on that cliffside

and awaited my death

there are times when I take a blade

and cut my thigh until the sweet cherry color of my blood

escapes my dermis and epidermis

and I laugh at it bitterly

there are times when I punch walls

there are times when I scream

I am NOT strong.

I am weak.

so I now know, strength is not the absence of weakness

nor the absense of fear

strength is simply

the presence of strength

that is all.

I AM strong.
