"I don't like this, nor do I trust her," the smooth voice of the Serpent Hashira—Obanai Iguro—spoke, the sound drifting up from the tree that he was perched on, the snake around his neck also letting out a hiss of disapproval.

(Y/N) winced from his harsh criticism, yet understood why he was saying so.

Standing in front of the nine Hashira, the strongest of the Demon Slayers and the ones whom she knew could kill her in a second, she couldn't help but falter. Behind her was the master of the mansion, the head of the Demon Slayer Corps, introduced to her as Kagaya Ubuyashiki, and his presence only made her more nervous. Kyojuro was lined up with the others, and when she met his gaze, he gave her a comforting smile. Yet, when she looked at his patched eye that she couldn't heal, she was no longer comforted as guilt consumed her.

Letting her (E/C) eyes sweep down the line, from the Sound Pillar introduced as Tengen Uzui to the Water Pillar Giyu Tomioka, she stopped on the one person farthest from her. He had the same tousled white hair, the same scars, the same intimidating aura, and the same piercing eyes.

She inhaled sharply.

He's the one from the mountains.

The Hashira that tried to kill me and Rui.

Their stares clashed when Sanemi glanced up, having already recognized her as soon as she stepped foot in front of him. His gaze was cold and calculating, completely detached from everything around him. Yet, for once, his eyes didn't hold the bloodthirsty hue that was present the first time he had crossed paths with her. For what she didn't realize was that Sanemi had not been able to stop thinking about her after she had saved him—after she looked at him as if she were human.

Sanemi broke his straw first, then crossing his arms over his chest whilst his stance widened.

Obanai, having observed the entire interaction, narrowed his eyes in disbelief. He knew quite well how much the Wind Hashira despised demons, he being the only one who actively hunted demons before joining the Demon Slayer Corps. So, he couldn't help but be intrigued by why Sanemi didn't look as if he wanted to kill (Y/N) where she stood.

It was interesting, to say the least.

"It seems I've surprised you yet again, my children," Kagaya smiled softly, the turbulent emotions within the other eight Hashira seeming to dissipate just from his soothing words alone. "I apologize. However, we must come to an agreement concerning (Y/N) here."
