March 7, 2024, loomed ahead like a dark cloud over Summer's head – it was Founders Day at SULS, a day she dreaded with every ounce of her being. The school commemorated the founders of both institutions by paying respects at their burial site located at the back of the Southern University Campus.

The day began with a reluctant breakfast with her friend Tia, but Summer's mood plummeted when she found herself partnered with Mrace for the somber walk. Frustrated by his failure to compensate her for previous work, Summer trudged along, her sore feet adding to her irritation.

As they reached the burial site, Summer's heart sank knowing she had to endure the long-winded ceremony. After paying their respects, the students split up, with elementary school heading back to their classrooms while middle and high school students proceeded to the mini dome.

Back in the classroom, Summer and her classmates settled in as Ms. Gleason began a lecture on the importance of honoring their school and the opportunities it offered. Despite her outward indifference, Summer couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt as Ms. Gleason emphasized the privileges they had compared to students from less fortunate schools.

Although Summer tried to brush off the lecture, secretly, her words resonated with her. She couldn't shake the feeling that she needed to do better, not just for herself, but for those who weren't as fortunate as her. As the day came to a close, Summer mulled over Ms. Gleason's words, contemplating how she could make a positive impact moving forward.
