Part 1 of 5

Nidhi felt like the life had been drained from her. She couldn’t eat and had slept badly. She had left the house of the elderly couple an hour ago and accompanied by Arii and Ruh, they were back on the road again. Nidhi thought about how things were left between her and the tiger and tears welled up in her eyes once again.

“Why are you crying again Nidhi? Please don’t tell me it is about the tiger. He is dangerous and you know how deceiving tigers are. We cannot trust them. This is for your own good.” Arii said but Nidhi didn’t really listen. “You are like a love struck fool. He is a tiger Nidhi, not a boy you can fall in love with.”

“I know I just felt something when we touched. I can’t help it maybe he is part of my destiny like you. You know about legends and stuff. Animals can guide us and help us. They have the ability and power.”

“Yes but you can’t just trust a tiger and the animal send to help you would never just befriend you like that, they will keep their distance and guide you, not take your hand and lead you. You are a smart girl Nidhi, use your brain.” Arii said with a little less defined accent.

Nidhi looked at the landscape that they were passing through and couldn’t help but wonder where the tiger was. She definitely felt a connection and no one was going to tell her different. She dried her tears and watched trees and bushes standing staying in one place as she moved forward and she wished that she could just be a tree for a day to provide shade for a sleepy tiger.

Nidhi was deep in thought when she saw something that didn’t look like it belonged. She stared at it for as long as she could and for a very short second she saw a tiger looking at her through the thick greenery. He was gone and Nidhi wondered what he was doing there so far away from where she saw him the day before.

Nidhi thought about their first meeting and couldn’t help but smile. He was different and Nidhi knew he wasn’t just any tiger. Maybe he was special like her.
