Third Person POV
The vines held fast and thick with On.
Gon thrashed violently. Every muscle burning as he fought against the living prison. "Let me GO—!"
He summoned what was left of his aura but the moment it sparked, the vines drank it whole, devouring his strength and leaving behind only that cold, sickening drain.
Killua strained beside him, quieter but no less desperate—his fingers twitching with shorted-out lightning. "It's no use... these things eat Nen like it's nothing. They're not just alive. They're possessed."
Gon growled, eyes wild. "I'm not just gonna sit here and watch him win—!"
"You won't be watching me," Quinto said softly.
He stood above them, his body casting a warped shadow. One hand raised—and the vines reacted, stretching their roots toward the sky. The forest parted like a living curtain.
And then—
Above them, the night sky tore open.
Shadows split to reveal another battlefield high above the tree line. Lightning flashed in the distance. A silhouette flickered in golden light.
Rin.
Her Super Saiyan aura burned raggedly, like a candle fighting wind. Her hair dimmed from brilliant gold to a dull, struggling blonde. Blood dripped from her chin as she fought to stay upright.
Opposite her—
Tress.
Wreathed in red flame, On coursing through her like a poison she'd grown addicted to. Her red eyes glowed, but there was no light in them. Just a cold vacancy. Her long hair floated like she was underwater. Her body moved with eerie calm—unnatural.
Killua's breath caught. His eyes locked on her.
No. Not her.
Not Tress.
She was the Angel of Death now.
Quinto leaned down between them, grinning. "A show for the ages, boys. The angel of death, sculpted by ruin. You should feel honored to witness it."
"RIN!!" Gon's voice broke as he thrashed against the vines, every muscle in his body screaming in defiance.
Rin stood across from her, blood dripping down his arm. Her teal eyes were still burning—but softer now.
She was hesitating.
"No," Gon breathed, his voice dropping. "No no no—Rin, don't—"
Quinto knelt between them, still holding the vines that choked them both.
"I wanted you to see," he whispered. "What mercy costs."
Tress dashed forward—silent, deadly—and Rin barely blocked the first blow. Her strikes were faster than lightning, her movement less human, more like a falling star that never touched the ground.
POWWWWW!!!!
And Rin—
She dodged. Blocked. Evaded.
POWWWW!!!!
Another clash—
Tress's hand pierced through Rin's shoulder, blood exploding midair.
"AGH!"
Gon's scream caught in his throat. "STOP!!"
But Rin only gritted his teeth, catching Tress's wrist gently even with blood pouring down her arm.
