Chapter 57: The Sacrifice

Holly's eyes fluttered open as her lips pulled into a smile, she was lying down next to Damon. Damon Salvatore, after a night of what seemed like never ending passion. Holly couldn't remember the last time she had felt so happy.

Damon saw her staring and he whispered. "Good morning."

"Morning." She practically sang.

There was an amused smile on his lips. "Are you singing? The sex must have been good, then again I'm a God in bed."

"Oh, Damon don't be a tease." She said slapping his arm, playfully. "And for the record you were fantastic."

"You weren't so bad yourself." Damon said as he pushed back a piece of dark hair. "For a virgin anyway or past virgin."

Holly flushed as she threw the pillow towards him. "You can be such a jerk." But she was laughing.

"I know." His smile faded slightly. "Why did you change your mind, when I asked you a few weeks ago if you wanted to be with me, you said no?"

Holly shrugged. "That was my first day of being a vampire Damon I didn't exactly have time for love confessions, not to mention that my feelings were all over the place, I wasn't sure what I wanted. But now I know." She murmured as she kissed him. "I want you."

There was a genuine smile on his face as he pulled her closer. "I've been waiting for you to say those words."

Holly and Damon's excitement quickly wore off later that afternoon. Stefan and Damon had visited Katherine in the tomb who had promised them that if they got her out she would give them the moonstone and then leave town.

Holly raised an eyebrow. "You don't believe her, do you?"

"Of course not." Damon said as he played with an orange. "We just want the moonstone."

"According to Rose's friend Slater there's a way to deactivate the moonstone so that it becomes useless in the sacrifice. We release the spell from the moonstone."

Elena still looked unsure. "How do you even know that this is going to work?"

"Because we have a crafty witch on our side, who agreed to help us."

Elena nodded. "You discuss it with Bonnie."

"But they're still the main problem." Holly interrupted. "How are we going to get the moonstone from Katherine, there is still a seal in the tomb."

"Bonnie found a crafty little spell in her grimore." Holly frowned, most of the spells in the grimore required a lot of power.

"Wow it seems you guys have everything figure it out." Elena said as she looked around the room. "Except for one thing, I don't want your guys to do it. Klaus killed Katherine's entire family for meddling in his plans, I'm not going to put Holly or you guys in danger."

"Elena," Stefan was growing frustrated. "This means that we could save your life."

"I know." Elena scoffed. "Everyone keep saying that." With one quick swipe she left the room.

Elena was right, Holly thought as she parked her car in front of the Salvatore house even though she knew that neither Stefan nor Damon were there. They couldn't risk pissing Klaus off, but he was coming sooner rather later and they needed more time to get the moonstone and deactivate it. There was a slim chance that they could get out of this alive. All of them.

Holly got out of the car. A crazy idea had entered her head, she wasn't sure it was the best plan, but it was the only plan that she could think off and the one that would save them by giving them the most time.
