[10k's POV]

I swear if I have to look at endless trees for much longer I'm gonna go crazy. I always loved the outdoors but how much I would kill for solid open ground where everything wasn't so green. Megan walked swiftly in front of me with no problem navigating her way through, me on the other hand was clumsy, loud, and always getting caught up on plants.

"Do you even know where you're going?" I asked.

"We're almost there," she simply said. I sighed as we kept walking, she really wasn't big on talking. She actually didn't trust me at all, I can see it, she thinks that she only needs her self to survive which I totally understand but the way she is now something had to have happen to her, this really got me thinking...

***flashback***

We had been held up in an empty ware house for over a week now. when I say we I mean it was me and my dad... I never knew any of my other family except for him, mom died giving birth so I never knew her, and all other family was just cut off from the two of us.

"I'm gonna make a short run," my dad said. I looked over to him holding his back pack and his rifle. I stood up and brushed my self off.

"then I'll come with you?" I said.

"no. I- I'll just be a little while. I'm going to head to warehouse down the road and see if there's any supplies. shouldn't take me long," he explained.

"are you sure?" I asked.

"yes! I'm sure. stay here," he growled.  I frowned and nodded my head before sitting back down. I heard his footsteps slowly fade away until they where gone. I was worried about him, like really worried. ever since this zombie thing started a few months ago he's changed. I've had to drag him with me and he barely eats. it's like he's depressed or something...

I waited for his return for about 45 minutes. the warehouse he was talking about was a 15 minute walk... I got up and grabbed my bag along with my pistol. I left and quickly headed toward the ware house.

I walked through the open door of the large building. it was completely silent inside.

"dad...?" I called out. I walked inside and found a bag laying on the ground against the wall. I ran over to it and picked it up. it was my dads...

"dad!" I started to yell. I ran along the side of the building towards some large crates that where stacked up high. I turned to move around them and tripped over something making me fall face first on the floor. I quickly shot up ready to shoot before my entire world had stop spinning...

"d-dad..." I whispered.

***end of flashback***
(to be continued)

"hey!" somebody yelled. I snapped out of it and focused on what was happening. Megan was standing right in front of me, no emotion written on her face.

"sorry, let's keep moving," I said. I hadn't realized I even stopped.

"We're here," she said. I followed her up a small hill and as soon as we reached the top we were met with houses. actual wooden human made houses, I couldn't help but smile at the sight of pavement and the smell of trash. but then I started thinking... why did she come here?

"I thought you liked the wilderness better then the cities or towns?" I asked.

"I do. but I need your help, I got you threw the forest, now I need you to get me across the city to the woods on the other side," she said. She pulled her pack off her shoulder and unzipped the front pocket pulling out a piece of paper, it was a map. she crouched down and unfolded it on the ground and pointed to a name.

"I need to get here, we're over here," she pointed at the map. I looked at where she wanted to go and couldn't help but ask why me?

"It could take a week to get there? and that's if all goes smooth! how do you expect me to get us both there alive? big cities like this are dead zones, full of Infected," I argued. she looked angry at my refusal. she snatched the map up and folded it back into her bag shooting up and walking away.

"where are you going?" I yelled.

"across the city with out you," she yelled back. I groaned getting up and jogging towards her. I laid my hand on her arm to stop her and as soon as we made contact she spun around grabbing my wrist and shoved me against a tree and pinned me with her bow pressing tightly against my neck. I put my hands in the air and looked her in the eyes, I could see darkness flooding into them. what happen to you?

"don't. ever. touch me," she said loud and clear. I nodded my head and she pulled back, gasping air into my lungs and rubbing my neck. What the hell is wrong with this girl! I'm trying to help her and instead she attacks me.

she turned and continued on her path into the city. she's been alone in the woods where the dead where a simple rare occasion, she has no idea what's really out there, how many are out there. if the zombies don't kill you... the people will...

I stared at her walking away and then back into the trees where we had came from. I couldn't let her go out there by her self. I managed to catch up to her and we walked side by side.

"what are you doing," she grumbled.

"I'm going with you," I told her. she didn't answer and we just kept going. we made it to a street and walked side by side in the middle of the road. she didn't walk as fast in the open then she did in the forest. she's in my terrain now...
