You sat in the back of the Impala as Dean drove. Sam always sat shotgun. You had learned that long ago.
"How long will I have to stay there?" you asked them, knowing you were probably going to get another vague answer.
"Until we can track down who all wants to kill you," Dean said, "This is the safest place for you."
"I know," you sighed, "I just hate feeling like a burden on Chuck. He's already got enough on his plate. Ya know ... with being a prophet and all."
"He said you're more than welcome to stay with him," Sam said, "He's a great guy. I think you'll both be just fine."
You sat back, "Why did I get this kind of target on my back?" you grumbled. Being hunted down by demons wasn't really the greatest way to live, so the guys were taking you to stay with Chuck; the prophet who wrote the Supernatural books. The stories that everyone thought were fiction, but actually followed the real lives of Sam, Dean, and now you. He had agreed to let you stay because he had a guardian angel that protected him wherever he was because of him being a prophet.
"It happens," Dean said, "But we'll get this all taken care of."
"Yeah."
It was about another hour before Dean pulled up to Chuck's house. The last time you had seen him, he was messy, drunk, and dirty. You really hoped he wasn't like that anymore. You didn't know if you'd be able to take it.
Dean and Sam helped carry the few things you had brought with you and the three of you walked to Chuck's door.
Dean knocked and you waited for the door to open.
"Hey, guys," Chuck opened the door. He was clean, wearing clean clothes, and from what you could tell at jut a glance behind him, he had cleaned up the house as well. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad.
"Hey, Chuck. Thanks for taking care of our girl," Dean said.
"It's no problem," Chuck said, "Come on in."
The three of you walked into the house, "You cleaned the place up," Dean said, looking around.
"I thought it'd be nice since I would have a guest," Chuck said, "I have the guest room all set up for her too," he said, leading you to the room he had gotten ready for you for your stay while the guys took care of the demon hunting you.
"Thanks, Chuck," you said, putting your things on the bed, "I really appreciate you letting me stay."
"I think I'm gonna like having someone else around to hang out with, so I'm happy to have you here," he smiled.
~~~
Dean and Sam didn't stay too long at Chuck's and pretty soon, it was just the two of you, "So, you cleaned up because of me, huh?" you asked.
"I thought it would be nice," he nodded, "And it really needed to be cleaned up anyway," he said.
"I think the place looks nice," you said, sitting on the couch.
"Thank you."
"I don't wanna be in your way or anything. I'm pretty good at entertaining myself," you said, "I've had a lot of alone time."
"I'd like to hang out and talk," Chuck said, "I spend too much time by myself and I like having someone else around."
"Well, then I'm glad to keep you company," you said, "I don't know what to talk about though. You pretty much know my entire life because you wrote the books, but I don't know much about you."
"I'm not very interesting," Chuck said, "I literally stay in my house and write most days. Drink away a lot of time."
You offered a small smile, "We're not easy people to write about, Chuck. I'm really sorry you have to be the one to go through it all."
He shrugged, "I'm used to it at this point."
"Maybe I can help keep you calm while I'm here?" you asked, "I mean, I know it sucks and all, but maybe you won't feel like drinking as much with me here for a little while," you said.
"I think you're going to be a big help," he smiled.
"Do you already know what's going to happen?" you asked, "With Sam and Dean going after the demon that wants to kill me?"
He shook his head, "It would help to know, but I don't yet."
You shrugged, "That's okay. At least I'm here and have a guardian angel in the near vicinity."
"My angel is your angel," Chuck smiled.
"Thanks."
~~~
"A puzzle?" your eyes lit up.
"I remembered writing something about you loving to do puzzles, so I thought you'd want to do one with me."
"That's really sweet of you," you said, "I'd love to."
Chuck smiled as well, "Great. Umm ... I also have your favorite snacks. Please don't think I'm weird."
You giggled, "I don't think you're weird. I think it's sweet that you want to do these things for me. And you already know the answers because you've written my life since before I even knew."
"I'm glad you understand."
You and Chuck sat at the table together to start the puzzle. You were really happy to have something to do. And being with Chuck just seemed to be an added bonus.
~~~
"What's wrong?" you asked, seeing the look on Chuck's face a couple of days after you got to his house.
"I ... I wrote something this morning," he said, "I saw it ... had to write it," he looked like he was going to pass out."
You rushed to his side, "Are you okay?"
He nodded, "I'm okay."
"What did you see, Chuck? What did you write?" you asked, holding his hand as it shook.
He pointed at the papers on the table, "Read," he said softly.
You picked up the papers and read the paragraphs he had typed out;
She looked at him with a look of awe and slight confusion. Wondering if it were words that really came to him in a vision or if it was something he had made up for himself. And he barely met her gaze for fear she would reject him.
But she didn't reject him. She put the papers down and leaned toward him, smiling as she asked, "You love me, Chuck?"
And all he could do was nod as he swallowed hard, "Of course I love you. I fell in love with you over the years of writing you. I couldn't help it."
"Good thing," she smiled, "Because I love you too."
You were pretty sure you knew what was going on as you looked up at Chuck. Were his words really from a vision? Well, that part was true.
You put the papers on the table and leaned toward him, "You love me, Chuck?" you asked, smiling at him.
He swallowed hard and nodded, "Of course I love you. I fell in love with you over the years of writing you. I couldn't help it."
"Good thing," you smiled, "Because I love you too."
"Are you just saying that because you read what I wrote?"
You smiled and held his hand again, "Chuck, when I met you, you were a drunk that refused to believe that the people you were writing about were actually real. For some reason, I saw something else in you though. And we've spent some time together since then and I found that I really like you. I was excited to spend time with you while I stayed here because I was hoping we'd get to know each other better. And I guess things are kinda working in my favor on that one."
"You're serious?"
You nodded, "I'm serious," you leaned forward and kissed his cheek, "I promise you that."
"I never imagined ... I never thought you would actually have feelings for me," he said, "I just thought we'd be friends."
"Can we be more than friends?" you asked.
"I would love that," he nodded, "If that's something you'd like."
You giggled, "I think I made that pretty obvious."
"I guess you did."
~~~
You giggled, sitting on the couch with your legs over Chuck's as the two of you sat talking with a movie playing in the background for noise, "So, you fell in love with a fictional character before you knew I was real?" you teased him.
"What can I say, the vision of you in my head was absolutely beautiful and smart and funny. I couldn't help it," he said.
"Did I disappoint when you really met me?"
He shook his head, rubbing your thigh with his hand, "No way. You were even more gorgeous than I had ever seen or imagined; and smarter and funnier than anything I could have thought."
"Now you're just being sweet."
"Is it working?"
You leaned over and kissed him, "You bet it is."
~~~
"Hey, Y/N," Dean answered his phone when you called to check on how he and Sam were doing.
"How's it going?" you asked.
"We think we might have a lead," he said.
"That's awesome."
"How are things there with Chuck?" he asked.
"Great," you couldn't help the smile that spread across your face, "We ... get along really well."
"What aren't you telling me?" Dean asked.
"Well, ya know how Chuck has those visions and all that?" you asked, not sure if Dean would catch on at first.
"Yeah . . ."
"Well, he had one ... about me," you said.
"Okay . . ."
"About me and him."
Dean was quiet for a minute, "Are you dating Chuck?" he asked.
"I might be," you giggled, "Please don't be upset. I really like him and he really likes me. And we're actually meant to be together. And it's great, really."
"Y/N, I'm not mad. I think it's great that you and Chuck are together. I admit I really didn't see it coming, but if you're happy, that's all that matters."
"I'm really happy, Dean," you said.
"Good. I'm glad."
"But I'd still like for you guys to get that demon so I don't have to stay cooped up all the time," you said.
"We're doing our best, Sweetheart," Dean chuckled, "Sit tight; we'll make sure you're free as soon as we can."
"Thank you."
~~~
"So, you and Y/N," you heard Dean's voice in the other room as you got dressed and ready for the day. You didn't even know Sam and Dean were coming to see you, so you were excited to hear Dean's voice.
"Yeah," you could tell Chuck was still a little nervous about talking about your new relationship.
"She's a good girl, Man," Sam said, "Take care of her."
"I will, guys," Chuck said, "She's amazing and I would never do anything to hurt her or lose her."
"We know," Dean said, "We're really happy for you guys."
You finished getting dressed and ran into the other room, flinging yourself to hug both Sam and Dean at the same time, "Hi, guys!"
"Miss us?" Dean laughed.
"I haven't seen you in a month; of course I missed you," you said, "I didn't know you were coming."
"It's called a surprise," Sam chuckled, "We wanted to see your face in person when we told you that we got the demon."
You felt a huge smile cross your face, "That's awesome! You guys are seriously the best!" you hugged them both again.
"So, that means you can go out," Chuck said. You could tell his mood had fallen considerably.
You looked back at him, "It means I can go out. It also means I don't have to worry about being outside without you. But you do realize that I'm not leaving you, right? You're stuck with me."
He met my eyes, "You don't have to stay if you don't want to. You don't have to pity me."
"Chuck, stop," you said, putting your hands on either side of his face, "I love you. I'm not leaving you."
"You don't want to go back out there?"
"I might help some, but if you'll have me, I'd like to stay here. With you," you said, "That okay?"
"Of course," he nodded, leaning into your touch.
"Well, aren't you two just perfect," Dean teased.
You turned and smiled, "Not perfect," you shook your head, "But we're as close as we can get."
