I never wore high heels or foundation on my forehead and you told me that was ungraceful.
you asked me if I had any respect for myself, or desire to be appealing?
you tried to shame me but I never could quite go into that dungeon,
where you paint yourself a mask and pretend you're the person you drew.
or where you walk on ladders yet still can't touch the clouds?
Baby, what is the point in that? If I am gonna go high I want to go all the way.
If I am going to risk falling, I better be able to touch the Moon first.
why can't you be your beautiful and let me be my own kinda of loving you pretty?
wear your makeup, and heels and I will wear my clear lip gloss and sneakers,
we both will dance and walk that mountain together, hand in hand and side by side.
your gonna have to deal with my ungraceful appearance cause I am not gonna change,
I see you smile now and know you understand, good,
now take my hand, the Sun is going to sleep,
time for us to dance, you in your flowered dress and me in my favorite blue jeans.
