Small Bites

they know we had it but don't know how we were able to get it.

so we smile seeing the want inside the puppy eyes,

the whiskers smelling the pizza in the carton,

making the mutt's mouth drool with anticipation.

Puppies don't always get pizza, People don't always figure it out.

once we were the ones drooling now we have feasted.

we aren't puppies but ants, who crawled inside the box taking a nip here and there,

small bites the humans will never know we took from them,

biting the cheese and sauce with bliss, looking at the mutts on the ground waiting.

you ask me if I think they will ever get to feast as we did,

I said no because they believe they need permission, we know better.
