Matters Of Aging

age doesn't matter, it's just a number.

how that lie shaped every heartache of my almost forty years.

kid at heart but not in body.

once that mark sets in and the obvious happens,

you can't deny what you feel, what you see,

like a bright light in a pitch dark room,

it is a view that shouts out into the empty spaces.

It matters, more than it should, when she runs faster than your heart can fly,

when she jumps on top of you and breaks your bones,

when she accidentally rips out your heart and your eyes are replaced with strobes,

it matters, to say anything else would be lying.
