What happened at the law firm didn't let me sleep at all. A thought, something dreadful, is building inside my mind but I refuse to acknowledge it.

It cannot be. That's just so absurd.

My chest tightened.

That will surely crush me... and Eos, too.

I didn't bother asking my mom the moment I was home. I just walked towards my room absentmindedly. I'm afraid of the answer to my own question. Pero baka mali rin naman ako. I also know that there might be a possibility that it's just coincidence and nothing more.

Sometimes, oblivion is bliss.

A poke pulled me out from the train of my thoughts. I usually overthink and I hope that I'm just really overthinking things right now.

"Kanina pa nagriring ang phone mo, Dionne." I looked at Lani. Obviously, she's the one who poked me. My eyes landed on my phone that's on top of my working table. My heart instantly raced as I read his name flashing on the screen. "Punta na'ko sa pantry. Sunod ka ha."

Lani stood up. With trembling hands, I took my phone to my ear after swiping it.

"Hey." Eos greeted. I felt my heart leaped.

"Hey." Gaya ko dito, trying to sound normal.

"Have you eaten?" He asked.

"Yes..." I answered. He never fails to ask me these simple questions and I find it really sweet. "How about you?"

"I just finished." He said. "I miss you..."

A smile slowly crept into my lips. I bit my lower lip to prevent myself from smiling too much.

Eos is too tied up with his grandparents that we find it a little hard to see each other. Isama pa ang expansion ng kanyang business. He's opening another branch of his restaurant. His business is doing great and I couldn't be more proud of him.

"Where's my I miss you, too, baby?" He asked.

He's in Tagaytay for two days now to check the site. Knowing Eos, he might do that again.

"Just finish your business there and come back to me." I said.

"I will." He answered with no reservation.

"Eos, I have to hang up now before my supervisor kills me." I said playfully. He laughed heartily.

"Okay then. I love you, my queen."

"I love you."

It will kill me if I won't be able to hear his laugh again.
