Quinn POV

I'm in my room on Thursday afternoon just reviewing for my biology test.

Harry and I have slowly been talking more, which is odd but nice. It's different to talk to him considering I'm used to speaking to people that are more like my family. So, snobby and rich.

Joy is supposed to come over later along with Kay. Kay is tall, blonde, and slim. She always out dresses everyone in our group and makes me feel ugly, which I'm obviously not. She just like to look extra on purpose, which annoys me.

I walk downstairs once I hear my doorbell ring. I let out a small sigh before pulling the door back and having a smile on my lips.

I greet them both with a hug, one one of which is sincere. I close, and lock the door behind them and lead them into the backyard where we will be hanging out at.

Joy and Kay place there things down on the empty chairs, and I excuse myself to grab my sunglasses and lotion.

I have a little anxiety in me now from having them both over. Usually I feel like the third wheel, and I hate it. Especially when it's in my own house. I feel more lonely and awkward. I almost feel as if I can't act like myself.

When I come back outside, I see Kay talking to Harry across the fence. A red ball is in her hands and she's wearing a bikini that is a light blue colour. She has one of her legs sticking out so she can make her butt look bigger. That cases me to roll my eyes.

Of course she took off her cover up when she got the ball for him.

I groan to myself and sit down on my chair. Every once and a while I'll glance over to them and hear them laugh or see them both smile, which makes me sick and I don't know why.

"Richard texted me the other day," I hear Joy say to me. My eyes look back to my friend who brought up a person I don't ever want to talk about.

"Cool." I say simply. Why doesn't she get that I don't want to talk about him?

"Just cool?" She asks with furrowed eyebrows and a confused look. Joy is always looking to gossip, which gets old after a while.

"Yes," I say while dismissing the conversation.

I glance back over to Kay and see her looking at Harry like he's a piece of meat. I shouldn't expect anything less from her. I just don't know why it makes me sick seeing them flirt. They're both nothing to me really.

I take off my cover up which is just shorts and a tank top and place them on the concrete by my feet. "Is that a new bathing suit?" Joy asks me.

"Yeah," I say with a smile. "Isn't it cute?" I ask while looking down at my new high waisted bikini.

I know I'm not fat. But I'm for sure not skinny. One pieces don't suit me so I stick with high waisted bikini's because they look well on me, and make me feel cute.

"Very," My friend says with a smile.

I sit down by the pool and dip my feet into the water. I take my hair out of my messy bun and place my hair tie on my wrist.

The water is warm, but I don't know if I want to swim today.

Joy sits beside me and speaks. "I think they're gonna exchange numbers," She says in a whisper. I glance over to Harry and Kay and look back down at the water.

"Cool," I find myself saying again.

"I mean," Joy starts. "Do you think you can see them dating?"

"No," I say almost too quickly. "I mean, he's not her type,"

I look over at Joy who's questioning me. "Is there something I don't know about you and him?"

"Nothing that I haven't told you about," I say. She knows Harry and I have been hanging out a bit.

"Okay," She dismisses. "If you have a crush on him lemme know. I won't bring up the fact that she's into Harry."

I roll my eyes, brushing off her comment.

A few moments later Kay sits besides Joy and starts talking about her and Harry's conversation, and how much she thinks he's hot.

I glance over to Harry who waves at me. I give him a gentle smile back before looking to my lap where my fingers start playing with my bottoms.

***

It's eight o'clock at night now and I'm watering the flowers before I call it a night.

I see Harry's patio light turn on and him come outside. He has a hoodie on, which is different to see. His hair is messy, but in a good way. He looks a bit tired, so I assumed he worked today.

"Hey," Harry says to me. His arms hook around the fence.

"Hi," I reply back.

"How's your day?" Harry asks.

"Decent, yours?" I ask while looking up at him. His eyes are on me.

"Eh," My neighbour lets out a deep breath. "You busy tomorrow night?"

"Depends," I say, making Harry chuckle.

"Meet me outside by eight." He tells me with a gentle grin.

"Again with the surprises?" I ask with a chuckle.

"Yep," His dimples appear on his semi rosy cheeks. "Is Kay single?" He changes the topic which makes my smile fade.

"As far as I know of, why?" I ask.

"Because she was making out with some dude at the park yesterday and was flirting with me earlier," Harry says, making me bite my lip and nod.

"Did you want me to give you her number?" I offer while taking out my phone.

"No," He says casually. "There is a reason why I didn't ask for her number this afternoon," My neighbour says through a hum. "Plus, I have my eye on someone else." Harry adds.

Before I know it, he takes my phone out of my hands and starts typing away. My eyebrows knot. "That's my number," He says. "Text me if you become busy, if not I'll see you tomorrow night."

"Will do Henry," I say, making him smile more.

"Goodnight Quinta," His eyes look into mine briefly before walking away. I watch him walk into his house before continuing my task of watering flowers.
