Quinn POV

"What?" I ask Faith who just saw Harry and I kiss. I was hoping I heard what she said wrong.

A smile creeps onto her pink lips and she sips her drink. "You heard what I said, Quinn." She says through a hum.

"I don't have to answer you." I say.

"So, if I told Mom and Dad that you're seeing the boy next door, what will you say?" Faith brings up with some sort of joy on her face.

"Mind your own business." I find myself saying.

"All I'm asking is if that's your summer fling." My sister plays off.

"I don't know what we are, but it's still none of your business who I see." I repeat.

"You went from Richard to what? Tyler? Is that is name?" Faith asks me.

"His name is Harry," I say a little more sternly. "And there is nothing wrong with him. Just because he doesn't come from money doesn't mean that he isn't a good guy."

"If you guys, lets say, end up together years from now. Do you really think he'll be the man who brings in the money for you both to live off of? Because all I see is him being like his Dad, and you being his Mom. When you were with Richard, I didn't see that." She tells me.

"You don't know him," I say defensively.

"And? I don't need to know him to figure out that he won't end up as someone like us. Mom and Dad always said to date someone we are comfortable with and know. Richard, we know. He will bring in money, unlike Harry."

"Not everything is about money," I say. Her eyes roll at my response. "And you're acting like I'm marrying him tomorrow. We are just dating and stuff, stop making a big deal about it."

"I don't want my life to be affected by your poor choices. Word goes fast around town about our family. If someone sees you and Harry holding hands or kissing in public, our family will get hate, because you're with the poorest boy in town, maybe the whole state. His family is the definition of white trash, yet you're attached to that?"

My stomach burns with anger and my jaw is tense from biting down. "Okay." I say simply.

"Okay?" My sisters eyebrows knot at me.

"Yes, okay." I say again.

Her eyes roll at me and she snickers. "Mom and Dad are going to flip." Faith hums.

"Will they also flip if they know that all throughout high school you did coke and smoked weed? Oh, how would your boyfriend like to know that in junior year you got so wasted you brought home some guy that you thought was him and had sex?" My words cause my sisters eyes to darken. "When I know what Harry and I actually are, I'll tell our parents. I don't need you to but in on my life now." I growl before I leave the kitchen.

I walk upstairs and close my door behind me. I lay down on my mattress and close my eyes.

Why can't I have one person in my life who doesn't care that I'm seeing Harry? Times like this I wish I wasn't Quinn Adams. Maybe then I'd find friends easier and wouldn't care about the wealth status of a person.

***

As I predicted, Faith is in her room the time Harry came over.

We're seated in my room currently. He just came over, so we're talking.

"How was your day?" Harry asks me.

"Still gross," I say, which makes him snicker. "What about you?" I ask.
