Kill the Witch! Wickedness must be punished! Kill the Witch! I can hear the people yelling, and I feel panicked. Someone strikes me in the face and man's face come into view I can't focus on because the pain from his hit causes my vision to blur. "Stay away from my daughter Witch!" I know that voice! It's Glinda's father, and I begin to beg to him to let me go. "I didn't do anything to her! Please let me go! I promise I will leave Glinda alone!"

"Too late Witch. You will pay for what you did to my daughter!" He roars, and hits me again. "Please I... I didn't do anything to her!" I whimper and began to struggle when he grabs my arm and starts twisting it. I let out a scream.

"Elphaba!" I hear my name but I can't focus. "Elphaba! Wake up!" I feel someone shaking me, and my eye fling open. I lay there gasping and trembling. I didn't remember falling asleep and yet I must have. I'm confused until I remember what happened. "Elphaba? Are you okay?" It's Bessie, and I begin to settle down a little. I shake my head slowly remaining curled up. "Elphie, come along." She says gently placing a hand on my shoulder. "The rain has stopped for the moment, and we need to get you back to the cabin before it begins again, okay?"

I slowly uncurl and realize that Glinda is gone, and I fight back tears that well up in my eyes. "She's gone isn't she?" I whisper. "I'm not to see her again am I?" I look at Bessie hoping she would respond differently than I know she will. Bessie just shakes her head, and I hang my head and bite my bottom lip to fight off the tears. "I'm sorry Elphie." She says hugging me before taking my hand and leading me slowly back to the cabin.

We arrive back at the cabin and I notice right away all traces of Glinda having been here are gone. I silently go towards my room, but find myself standing in her now empty room, and I collapse to me knees hugging myself and rocking slightly to keep from falling apart. To keep myself from shattering like my heart has.

"I'm sorry Elphie." Bessie says quietly from behind me. "I will inform Glinda you are safe when I get to the main house." I don't respond, and she goes on. "I have been told that I can no longer remain a servant to you, and that I am to tend to Glinda only. I... I'm sorry Elphie."

"It's not your fault, Bessie." I give her a sad excuse of a small smile and then frown as I look away. "Tell Glinda I will always love her, and thank you for... for everything."

"I will, and you're welcome. Goodbye, Elphie." She says turning towards the door, and the door clicks shut I finally let the tears fall because right now I welcome the pain.
