Sapphire's head was skittish all over the place. After everything that happened, she almost forgot that her boyfriend's birthday was coming around soon — by soon, it meant really, really soon. All the drama and stress got to her, completely making her unaware of what goes on in the calendar.

Sean promised he was coming home to talk, and Sapphire clung on to that. They really needed to talk. At this point, they kept a lot of things between the two of them, and it would only break them apart if they didn't talk it out.

With 7PM on the clock, Sapphire had high hopes that he'll come barging in through the door.

With Oreo beside her on the floor, Serris and Sarah huddled over her as they scrolled through the million posts on Pinterest's birthday ideas section in order to kill time. Hours rolled by as countless arguments passed between them. Sapphire wanted his birthday to be simple yet special, just like he is.

After everything he has done for her, she would want to reciprocate that back in ways that showed that she appreciated him so much — despite the fact that things aren't going well.

But when almost 11:00PM hit the clock, the three slumped back on the floor with their backs to the couch, mildly satisified with the whole idea written in a notebook and the amount of messages they had to send out to ask for help.

"I think that's good enough." Sarah groaned, stretching her back until a little crack sounded out. "Should be good enough. Sean would love it."

"Yeah, I think he'll love it. But not before he kills you." The other Lew snorted, taking a glance at the paper one more time. "Yep, definitely before he kills you."

Glancing back at the multiple scribbles and scratches they made on the piece of paper, she smiled at the thought of Sean giving her that adorable annoyed face he always gave her whenever she does something dorky or cheeky, but not before squeezing the hell out of her with a tight bearhug. She could feel her heart going gooey just by thinking of how Sean would be like, and she truly hoped it would go just right.

A tap on her shoulder brought her out of her trance, and she glanced at Serris with the unconsciously forming smile on her face. "Yep?"

"It's almost midnight, aren't you tired yet?" Serris yawned, showing the smiley girl the time on her phone. "Are you waiting for Sean to come home?"

Just in a snap, the smile on her face was wiped off like dirt with a towel as she was reminded why she was staying up this late despite the heaviness in her eyes.

She tried to convince herself that it was fine; Sean was a busy boy, and she should understand that by now. But still, she couldn't help but feel a part of her tear down along with her hopes.

At 12 midnight, when there was no longer a chance of seeing a certain boy come home, Sapphire decided to just head over to bed whilst praying that the next morning would be different.

"Goodnight," was what she whispered to the nothingness that surrounded her. Atleast Oreo was there.

Waking up in a bed alone was something Sapphire was used to before, when she was living in the apartment she shared with Bailey. But when Sean came around, she instantly loved the warmth and security he had, and she felt kind of disappointed in herself for being so used to waking up to him closely cuddled to her.

When she woke up in the morning, she felt the same heaviness in her heart that she slept with. She knew it was still going to be there no matter how much she tried to tell herself that this was Sean just rising in his career, and his schedule just gets more cramped.

Heavy hearts were starting to become a normal occurrence even if it shouldn't be, but she couldn't help but still feel a little drop of hope in her heart that this was just a temporary thing.
