The order was passed along and the military captain launched the investigation. It took only a day to complete the examination of all the covenantors, though they came up empty-handed. However, during the interrogation, a covenantor told them that he’d been attacked a couple of days ago. He’d fought back in accordance with the anti-violence pact, and ultimately prevented the other side from succeeding in their attack.
负责盘问的军官对此还惊奇了一把，从没听说过守约人还有什么反暴力条约。不过因为他的反击，倒是给他们提供了不少线索。
The officer in charge of the interrogation was surprised since he’d never heard of any anti-violence pact with covenators. However, the counterattack provided them with a lot of clues.
这名守约人以前当过侦察兵，记忆力非常好，将袭击者的长相、穿着、武器等等，全都细致地描绘出来。袭击者原本想用迷药，结果才刚近身就被这名侦查兵出身的守约人给发现了。
This covenantor had previously been a spy and had an extremely good memory. He was able to describe the attackers’ appearance, clothes, weapons, and more, all in meticulous detail. The attackers had originally intended to use a knockout drug, but they’d only barely approached before they were discovered by this covenantor with an investigative military background.
