Admittedly, I'm much more comfortable riding shotgun in a luxury vehicle versus swaying on a stuffy, crowded bus. I just hate feeling like I'm taking up too much of Manager Jigaemae's time. He doesn't seem to mind, at least he hasn't communicated that to me. To be honest, he hasn't said much at all.

"Do you mind if we stop at a grocery store?"

He spares me a quick glance and frowns with confusion. Ah. He doesn't speak English. No worries. I pull out my phone and open a translation app.

"Ummm, uh, shijang? Syupeomaket?" I know my pronunciation is complete crap, but it's better than trying to play charades in a car.

"Ahhh." He nods, fortunately, understanding.

He easily finds what we're looking for and pulls into the parking lot of what looks to be a pretty standard grocery store. Awesome. I don't want to keep him waiting so I plan to make it a quick trip. However, he hops out of the vehicle to follow me in. I'm relieved. I had no idea how I was going to navigate my first shopping event.

He grabs a cart then makes a gesture, indicating for me to lead the way. I'm not used to men treating me so kindly, especially without the prospect of getting something in return. I thank him in Korean, trying very hard not to offend him with my accent.

Korean grocery stores are much like American ones, but with much more fascinating foods. I don't even know what I'm looking for or where to start, but I begin by throwing yummy-looking snacks and drinks into the cart, along with some more nutritious fare like fruit and vegetables. I'd made a mental note to buy things that the boys like according to the file folder. Shopping for meat is literally more than I bargained for considering the shocking price of beef. I settle for chicken and pork cuts that look similar to what I've used back home. I'm not sure how it'll turn out, but I'd like to be able to cook for them whenever they get a chance to actually sit down and enjoy a meal at home. It feels oddly domestic of me, which is something I've never aspired to be. However, I like it. I like the idea of filling their bellies with food I've made especially for them after working so hard.

When Manager Jigaemae spies me studying the various types of instant noodles, he steps up and puts a bundle into my hands.

"Good," he says clearly.

"Oh, this is a good kind?"

He nods.

"Do the guys like this one?"

He nods again.

Awesome. It seems like he understands a lot more English than I do Korean. We hit the cereals next and I look to him for a recommendation. He instantly catches on and picks up a couple of boxes that appear very similar to the types in the US. He even shows me where to get the flavored milks that Jungkook loves so much.

When the cart is pretty full, we head to the checkout. Thank God, I exchanged a good amount of dollars for won before I came since I was unsure if I'd have access to a bank or ATM right away. However, when I fish out my wallet to grab my money, Jigaemae steps up and hands the cashier a credit card.

"Oh no. You don't have to..." I pull out some won to show him. "I can pay."

He shakes his head.

"Really. I want to pay," I explain.

He shakes his head again, and says, "Namjoon-ah."

Huh. So did Joon instruct him to take care of me? That's...sweet, although unnecessary, especially since I get money for shopping. Still, I thank him with a grateful heart.

I gently demand he let me help load up the trunk with the groceries and once we're in the car, I ask him how I can get a new cell phone and a Korean number, courtesy of the translation app. It takes us a couple of tries, but he soon understands.
