"So you were going to hide it from us?"
I shake my head and look down at my feet, unable to face Hoseok's unrelenting stare. Unable to face any of them, honestly. "No. I mean, yes. Well...at least until after the performance. I didn't want you guys to worry."
Namjoon paces the floor, roughly dragging his fingers through his hair. He's been doing that since I gave them a half-assed explanation as to how I stumbled upon the letter and why I thought it would be a good idea to keep it from them, even going so far as to ask Jigaemae to go along with it. They weren't pissed at me for finding it in my dressing room, obviously. They were pissed because I had kept it a secret and had manipulated their manager to do the same. But mostly, they were scared for me and worried that I wasn't taking it seriously.
"Look...I told you. It's probably just some stupid sasaeng. Maybe even a kid. No sane adult would do something like this."
"That's where you're wrong," Yoongi counters. "There are more adult sasaengs than minors because they have the money and freedom to travel and pay for access. We know about this shit. You don't. So it was dumb to think you could handle this alone."
I visibly flinch at his terse words and Yoongi instantly heaves out a sigh of remorse before coming over to the bed where I sit.
"Violet..." he begins, his tone much softer. He brushes the back of his hand over my cheek then gently runs his thumb over my bottom lip. "I just got you, baby. We just got our chance. The thought of someone hurting you..." He swallows thickly. "You are everything to me. So it hurts that you would refuse to let me take care of you."
I nod and then Yoongi is pulling me into his side and tucking my head under his chin. He rubs up and down my arm, his touch comforting and his scent soothing. He's right. I do feel safer when I'm with him and it's selfish of me to deny him the chance to even try. There is no one I trust more than the people in this room, Jigaemae included. However, the need to protect them is just as strong as their innate instinct to protect me.
"We need to make a decision about tomorrow so we can put out a press release tonight," Hoseok states, causing me to lift my head.
"A decision?"
Namjoon nods. "If you're in danger then we all are. Someone made a threat on your life, Violet. And you are our first priority. Whether it was an immature fan or a joke can't be determined right now. So the best thing for us to do is make the proper preparations."
"I say we cancel," Taehyung suggests.
"I agree," says Jin with Yoongi quickly nodding as well.
"We could but you know things may get even worse for Violet if we do," Jimin counters. "I don't ever want to leave her side. But if sasaengs and antis think she is keeping us from our fans, they might do more. Even worse things."
"He's right," I agree. "It'll just give them more ammunition. No matter what, they will blame me if you guys don't show."
"So what can we do? How can we protect Noona and try to make them stop?" Jungkook pipes up, his doe eyes wide with worry.
Namjoon heaves out a frustrated breath. "I have an idea. They won't like it at first and it will cause chaos, but it could help. I just need to talk to our PR team and the manager hyungs so I know we're making the right decision. Either way, we have to do something, even if it means losing fans."
"No," I protest, shaking my head, but Yoongi quickly eases me by running his hand up and down my back.
"Don't worry, gongju," Taehyung chimes in. "They won't be our real fans. ARMY would never be so cruel to someone we love. The fake fans can go."
