Kara’s POV

*
              “Kara...”

“Hmm?” I groaned and peeked one eye open to check the time on my dressing table. It read quarter to twelve.

I turned around to see Adrian was no longer beside me on the bed, making me realize no one actually called me and I was just imagining things.

“Where did she go now?” I question rhetorically, listening for the sound of rushing water but I hear nothing. Furrowing my brows, I shrugged and turn around once again and settled in a comfortable position, backing my door and eager to go back to sleep.

“Kara...baby, open up.” I sat up quickly with wide eyes. That was Stephano! But... What was he doing here at this time of the night?  He was not supposed to be here, especially after my mama and his mom warned him that it was a taboo for the groom to see the bride the night before the wedding.

I didn’t agree with it because...it was just one of those numerous tales gathered over the years by people who were bored and wanted to tell a story but it was also a well followed tradition. And I didn’t want to go against wedding traditions. After all, after this night, Stephano would be all mine from tomorrow.

Stephano had gone for his bachelor’s party last night while I went for mine in another bar and then Diego took him over to his place. Diego!

He was supposed to take Stephano over to his place and they would both go to the Alfonsi mansion to get dressed later tomorrow. But he didn’t call me to tell me he already took Stephano home. And we are getting married tomorrow. Tomorrow is September fourteen, our wedding day.

Last month, which was August had been I and Stephano’s birth month because I was August ten and he august eleven but we celebrated it together at the Alfonsi’s mansion on that Sunday which was the eleventh.

Everyone had been present there, including mama and Stephanie. Mimi had reconciled with Andre and he’d even proposed a while after Stephano proposed. Mimi had been over the moon. Stephano had celebrated my own birthday with me on that Saturday by taking me on a date, then to the cinema which we did as a double date with Adrian and Diego and we ended the day by spending it in one of his beach houses which was in another city.

Stephano’s discrete cough brought me back to the present. With panic, I alighted from my bed and paced around in only my light red silk nightie.

“Babe...open up...Kara, don’t sleep. The love of your life is here.” Stephano stated cockily from the entrance while I paced around, my eyes no longer heavy from sleep.

His voice sounded somewhat tense and I was not pleased with that.

“Stephano, what are you doing here?”

“Something happened.” He mumbled but his voice was loud enough for me to hear.

“Are you alright? Is anyone hurt?” I clenched my nightgown and gritted my teeth, awaiting his response.

“Yes. I am not hurt. No one is hurt....But....” He trailed off.

“Then what happened?”

“I want to see you.”

My heart blossomed with joy. He only missed me, and that was why he came. He wasn’t here to break us up or anything. A part of me has been scared these past few days and I found myself asking questions.
