I would rather have one breath of her hair, one kiss of her mouth, one touch of her hand, than eternity without it. One.
City of Angles (1998)

It would be a privilege to have my heart broken by you.

I am going to kill that asshole.

Seeing Ayesha crying her heart out here made me numb with anger. Anger that I had never experienced before. The pain Ayesha had experienced in her break up, made my pain when Rhea broke up with me, like a small one.

How could that scoundrel bastard even do that?

Ayesha had her knees shaking as she cried uncontrollably onto them. Her hands are running down her curly hair as she took small gulps of air in.

That bastard, Aneesh Gupta, had broken Ayesha s heart, even though there was no fault of hers. She loved him so much, from the depth of her heart, and all he did was use her and throw her out. No wonder, her college life was like hell. No wonder, she was bullied by others.

She thought she didn't deserve him. But she is wrong. That ratfink asshole didn't deserve her.

Ayesha was now silently, still crying. Her short gulps had stopped, though, and my hands are shaking with anger.

I reach my hands to her and gently pull her back and make her face me. I can't help but notice, the happy glint in her eyes were replaced by a heartbroken glimmer. Her eyes were red from crying, but nevertheless, she meets my eyes.

I reach my hands to her cheeks and trace down the tears with my thumb. She closes her eyes at my touch. And then after three long breathes, she opens them.

"Sorry, I should not have told you. I am sorry -"

"Are you crazy? I'm glad you told me. And don't worry about it much, that Rascal does n't deserve it."

She nodded.

"Now, come on. Go and wash your face, and wipe it with a warm towel. Wipe off all your fears, come on." I stood up and pulled her to her feet.

She stood closer to me and met our foreheads, keeping her gaze down. I think I saw the last tear trickle down her cheek before, she closed her eyes and nodded. She walked away to the brown door in a corner that I quite did not notice when I had seen the road.

I walk to the other corner where the kitchen is supposed to be, and I see the electric stove. Well, assuming my guess to be correct, I take a peek at the small shelf below, and sure enough, it is stacked with Maggie, soup packets, ready to eat foods, tea bags, biscuits, Nutella jars, Hershey's Syrup/, and what not and jars of sugar, coffee powder, salts. It is like a mini getaway kitchen. Hoping Ayesha wouldn't be mad, I quickly prepare two cups of hot steaming coffee, and I hear a sniffing sound, as I turn around to see Ayesha pressing the towel to her wet face. She had also adjusted her hair while in the process and walked to sit on the bed, her gaze on me.

I pick the two cups of coffee and walk to her and hand her one, she told thanks, as I sat down next to her. We both held the cups in our hands and took a sip occasionally.

That guy was such an asshole to break Ayesha 's heart. I mean, how could that guy even do that?

I look at Ayesha, who is staring fixedly at the wall, her face entirely blank. I take another sip.

I feel her eyes on me for a moment before she retakes a sip. We kept stealing glances at each other, both of us pretending that either one hadn't noticed. I have a faint smile curving on my lips, and I could swear I saw one on Ayesha too.
