CHAPTER 52

Ayesha

I gave a nervous smile to the modern girl, dressed in jeans and a T-Shirt, with a high bun, as she considered my application with great interest.

"So... This.." She pointed at the application.

"I wanted to go to Kutchh, " I hastened to explain.

"Kutchh? Why?" She asked, surprised.

"Umm... You know the Runn of Kutchh... It is famous. Very famous in fact, " I stated, apprehensively.

"Umm, " Akanksha said, unimpressed, "I am aware of that. But why are you going? "

"Umm..." I began helplessly. I knew I should have asked some tips and ideas to Sahil

"Yes?" Akanksha prompted.

"Well... I want to take some time for myself and visit the beautiful nature. Some time to breathe into nature," I said, inventing wildly.

"Hmmm, " Akanksha said, considering me, with a snowed expression "I will think about it and let you know, ?"

"S-Sure."

As soon as I came to the washroom, (Using it as a pretext of course, ), I banged my head lightly on the wall, cursing my stupidity. I called Sahil.

"Hey!" He chirped, "Did you get the leave?"

"I'm not sure, Sahil. " I said truthfully, "Akanksha seems to be like a stubborn person. I don't suppose; I can get a leave."

"Wait- " he interrupted, "What lie did you say precisely?"

"I said... I wanted to take some time away for nature, "

A long silence, and then I heard a burst of laughter from the other end.

"You seriously said that? Are you kidding me, Ayesha?" He asked, between his laughs

"What's wrong with that?" I asked defiantly, though I could feel some heat up my cheeks due to embarrassment.

"Who do you think will sanction you leave, on a weekday, just because you want to spend some time with nature?" He said and broke out into peals of laughter.

"Well-you're an actor, " I protested weakly, "How do you know it's not the right excuse?"

"Ayesha, Ayesha, Ayesha!" He said exasperated, "I worked for a software company, for a year and a half. As a web developer! You know that. "

Embarrassed. That's exactly how I felt now. I banged my head on the wall again.

"Okay... Try something. If not possible, we will figure something out. Even I will try something out from here..."

"What can you do?" I asked incredulously. And before I could hear his answer, I listened to the line getting cut.

Rolling my eyes, and making sure to wash my hands, I stepped out of the washroom.
