Chapter 46: Introducing the 5th

Y/N POV:

We arrived at school with 10 minutes to spare before the first bell. I felt apprehensive going in, wondering if I would see Yoongi there. Part of me wanted to avoid seeing him but part of me got excited at the thought of seeing him. I hated that my head was telling me one thing but my heart was wanting something else – to desperately be near him again.

Luckily he was nowhere to be seen when we got inside and started heading down the hall towards our lockers. I looked towards his locker before I went to mine, opening it and getting out my supplies for my first three classes. Hailey stood wordlessly next to me, scrolling through her text messages and popping her gum.

I finished getting everything I needed for the day, balancing my books and stuff in one hand and my phone and coffee in the other. I turned towards Hailey to say something but my eyes glanced over to his locker again when I saw movement. It was just a kid using the locker next to Yoongi's. I exhaled, feeling a bit deflated.

"You know, he's probably not going to be here all week," Hailey said, not looking up from her phone.

"What do you mean, all week? How do you know? Has he talked to you," I hurriedly asked her.

Hailey smirked at this, finally looking up saying, "You keep looking over there like a lost puppy wanting their master back. I wasn't going to say anything until it came up naturally but yeah, I've been in touch with him. We texted late last night. Remember I had to go to the bathroom in the middle of our movie?"

My eyebrows bunched together as I tried to recall. Oh yeah, she abruptly got up saying she had to take a huge dump and was in the bathroom for almost 10 minutes.

"Yeah...okay so you weren't pooping your guts out. So what is going on then," I asked.

Hailey turned, walking towards her locker and I followed. "He asked how you were holding up and I said you were okay. He told me that he got a doctors note to be out for the whole week to recuperate. I doubt he will be back until Monday next week."

Hailey had her back to me as she rummaged in her locker so she didn't see my pout as I took in what she was saying. Wait – why am I pouting like I wasn't happy with this new development? I'm the one who broke up with him and said I didn't want to talk to him anymore pretty much.

I need to get my head together. Maybe this is a good thing, him being gone for the whole week.

Hailey slammed her locker shut, bringing my mind back to reality. We headed to class, just making it by the time the bell rang.

*Teeny Tiny Time Skip*

We sat at our usual lunch table with Cheri, who was going on and on about a new student that showed up in her Lit class. I was half paying attention. Anna wasn't here today as well – I wondered how she was doing.

"So I guess she's from India and is a Senior like us. You guys are going to LOVE her. Right away I said hi to her and she told me to fuck off. I was like, excuse me? Then she said she was prepared for girls to try picking on her. Then she referenced Mean Girls. Can you believe it? So I told her we actually call those snobs over there the Plastics, like from the movie," Cheri said, gesturing two tables over where the Plastics always hung out at.
