claire's pov

-saturday-

"what about this one?" skylar says while pulling out a navy colored dress.

"eh, too plain," i say with a shrug and she puts it back on the hanging rack.

today the girls and i decided to go dress shopping for jade and i. prom is coming up in exactly one week, next saturday.

we don't have much time to find the perfect dresses so we decided to go to a couple dress shops downtown and buy one from one of the stores.

we were both determined to find our dresses that lily, hannah, skylar, and maddie refused that we come home empty handed.

i knew they weren't lying too, especially because lily's the one with the car.

soon enough, a sales consultant approaches me and the girls who were digging through the color coordinated dresses.

"hi! can i help you girls with anything?" she says with a big bright smile.

lily immediately nods to her offer, knowing that i was going to say no to her and say we're doing just fine, "actually, yes."

the middle aged lady nods, excited to be helping out a customer instead of doing nothing at the front desk, "okay, awesome! what are you ladies shopping for? prom, i'm guessing?"

we all nod, knowing her guess was right since it is prom season after all.

"my two friends here are going and are looking for dresses to walk out with today," lily says as she points behind herself to jade and i.

we give the sales lady a quick wave to let her know that it's us she's referring to.

"me and the other three are just here to help and support," lily finishes as she waits for a response.

the lady nods with a sweet smile, "what are your names?" she says while pointing over to jade and i.

"claire," i say first, "i'm jade," my best friend says standing next to me.

"nice to meet you girls, i'm sasha and i'll be helping you shop today! i'm assuming you're both looking for long dresses?" sasha says with a hand motioning over to the racks behind us since we were already in the section of the store with full length dresses.

we politely nod back at her and she asks us if we have a specific color in mind. i pause and think to myself about which color, knowing i don't want something that'll make me look washed out and compete with my skin tone.

"i'm thinking like a royal blue kind of color," jade says which we all nod to, knowing the color will look perfect on her.

"and what about you?" she says, turning her attention over to me.

"purple," i say boldly, "maybe like a lavender."

sasha's face enlightens from hearing our choices and she asks for our size to pick out some dresses for us to put in our fitting rooms.

the girls and i go right back to looking as sasha goes over to open up two dressing rooms for the both of us.

"you guys are going to look so good," lily says with her eyes remaining fixated on the rack she was searching through.

"thanks," we both say politely, appreciating the compliment.

sasha comes back soon afterwards and first picks out a few dresses for jade that had caught her eye.
