Forever Doesn't Sound Bad (If Its With You)

"Jinyoung-ah,let's be together forever!"

A silly pinky promise was made back when they were both 10 and 9 years old. The hooking of the two little digits was an empty action in people's eyes but to them,it was an oath. It managed to knot itself so badly in Jinyoung's heart that whenever there were mere possibilities that the other may get taken away from him,it tugged harshly that the raven haired feared his heart would be torn out of his body.

He first experienced real heartbreak when Mark shot heart eyes at one of his classmates back in high school. Jinyoung could remember vividly the echo of his heart dropping and the crashing of it,reminding him greatly of glass separating into thousands of pieces. It was his first time yet he already felt like dying inside. It was then Jinyoung knew he should either forget his feelings for Mark or keep it. As hard as the choice was,Jinyoung chose the latter. It was stupid of him,he knew but as much as it hurts,he could never imagine a life without him loving Mark as a life long lover.

But still,he tried. For Mark. Because whenever he saw the older with another,that bright smile present,Jinyoung couldn't help but think what if this person is Mark's forever? Jinyoung at least had the decency to feel sorry for himself and do something about it. Mark wouldn't want him to be single his whole life. Even if the older has his heart,Jinyoung could at least try to not make Mark feel bad for holding it. Maybe one day,he'll let Mark return his heart to him.

Jinyoung came to a conclusion that it was hopeless. No matter what,Jinyoung just couldn't help but compare his dates to Mark and downgrade them in his head. He knew he was being an asshole by judging someone when that person was just like that but what can he do when the image Mark Tuan had planted itself in his brain? Nothing,Jinyoung thought because it was true. He's in too deep to let himself be saved.

Jinyoung's drowned.

"Jinyoung-ah,I can't do this." Mark whimpered as he stood in front of his best friend. His fists were gripping onto the edge of his wedding suit and Jinyoung's sure the palms were clammy even without looking,because he knew Mark that much.

"You can. You've been waiting for this moment your whole life,hyung," Jinyoung hummed assuringly,hoping at least one of them being calm would do the trick. His hand reached out to tuck the stray hair behind Mark's ear,fond eyes filled with tears as he stared at his best friend. He was hurting so much inside that the tears were just welled up in his eyes. He knew he could excuse it as him being too happy when honestly,it was the total opposite. He just wanted to curl up into a ball and sob in the corner. Sometimes,he thought what if he had plucked up the courage to claim Mark first,before anyone else could. But still,there was no guarantee they'd stay together for so long. And maybe then,they wouldn't even be friends. It haunted Jinyoung to even think about it. Being no one to such an angel of a person. "It will go by so fast and next time you know,he'll be yours forever."

"I don't know about that." the older chuckled but Jinyoung frowned at the meaning behind that laugh. It did not sound good at all. Something stirred in the raven haired's gut and he knew it wasn't a good thing. Looking at his best friend,the love of his life,being so down during his wedding day just made him wanna grab Mark and flee from the venue and run into the sunset.

"What-"

A head then popped into the room after a hast knock,interrupting whatever Jinyoung wanted to ask abruptly,"Mark,it's time."

When they were left alone,Jinyoung's blood drained when the realisation finally dawned upon him that Mark's really getting married. In this room,was Jinyoung's only chance left. There was no getting back after Mark stepped a foot out of the waiting room. A gulp of saliva travelled down Jinyoung's throat as his chin trembled,tears trickling down like little rain drops. Mark smiled sadly at him,taking both of his hands and tugging him closer till their bodies touched.
