It was Sunday morning and Y/n went down to the common room to greet everyone. "How are you guys feeling?" She asked her three friends. "Exhausted, but the potion helped, thanks Y/n." Pansy sighed as she laid her head on Y/n's shoulder. Y/n began to play with her hair trying to make her feel better. "Why don't we go eat, that will probably help?" They all nodded as they went into the Great Hall.
The conversation was fairly quiet. No one talked since most of her friends were tired from the day before. Draco was sitting next to Y/n and began to talk about quidditch practice. "You're still coming right?" Draco asked her. She smiled, "Of course, I'll always be there to support you." She playful nudged his side rib.
Draco couldn't help, but feel so happy around her. The warm feeling in his stomach wasn't helping him either. He knew Y/n only liked him as a friend. He tried to cancel the feelings he had for her. They were barely becoming close friends, how could he possibly have feelings for her?
You know that feeling you get when you barely know a person, but your gut tells you they're gonna be special to you? That's the feeling he got with Y/n. They had only become friends a couple weeks ago, but every time she spoke or laughed, he felt good about himself, and he had no idea why he felt that way– he just did.
Draco wasn't going to push his feelings onto her just yet. He wanted to wait until she felt comfortable with him. It might take some time, but she was worth it. He liked the feeling he experienced around her and he intended on keeping it.
Draco took the chance of hanging out with her again since his other friends just wanted to sleep. "You wanna hang out? Since they're probably gonna go to sleep?" He asked Y/n. She looked over at her friends who had their heads down. "Yeah that's fine. We'll see you guys later?" She told her friends and the nodded. Draco and Y/n made their was back to the common room. "I'll be back I'm just going to grab some stuff." He told her and she agreed. He went into his room getting a small blanket and a pack of cards. He went back down and they walked towards Black Lake.
He set the blanket on the floor and they both sat down. "I thought we could play some cards?" He asked her and she smiled and nodded. "I'm so going to win." She teased him. "We'll see about that." He took out the cards and effortlessly shuffled them in his hands. "Do you know how to play speed?" He asked. "Yup." She said popping the p. He smiled as he began to hand her cards and setting some on the space between them.
"Alright, 1..2..3!" They each flipped the deck of their pile of cards and began to rush trying to finish first. He looked over at Y/n seeing her huge smile, while she tried to finish first. "Speed! Speed!" She said happily. "I let you win." Draco smirked at her and she laughed, "Sure you did." The same game went on a couple more times. It was clear Y/n did win. Draco put the cards away as they laid down looking at the sky full of clouds. "I told you I'd win." She said turning her head towards him. He looked back at her and smiled, "Only because I let you." She laughed and turned her head back towards the clouds.
Draco didn't turn back, he kept his eyes on her and admired her face. He admired her pretty e/c eyes and the way her hair looked when she laid down. He quickly turned back to the sky, hoping she didn't catch him staring.
"Look that one looks like a dragon." She pointed at the sky. He looked towards her finger and laughed lightly. "And that one looks like a frog." She said moving her hand and he followed. After a moment of comfortable silence she spoke again.
"Thank you for hanging out with me today. I like hanging out with you, I'm glad we're becoming close." She looked at him in his eyes and he smiled. "You don't have to thank me Y/n, I like being around you." He admitted to her and she smiled. He broke eye contact to look at her smile and quickly back into her eyes.
Y/n never knew the difference from a friendly look and a look from someone who liked her. She was clueless. She was also never really lucky with love. Every time someone confessed their love to her, she would always think it's a joke, or she would never try and find love. Maybe she just didn't want to get hurt and therefore she always pushed her feeling of love aside?
The clock turned 12, and it rang throughout Hogwarts. "Have we really been here for 3 hours?" She asked as she got up. "I guess so." Draco told her. "We should head back to the common room." They both got up folding the blanket, grabbing the cards, and went into the dungeons.
Draco wished he could have stayed all day with her. As they entered the dungeons they were greeted by Pansy. "Where have you guys been?" Pansy asked. "We hung out by Black Lake." Y/n told her and sat down next to her. Draco sat on the couch across from her and looked at them as they giggled and talked.
"Guess what?" Pansy asked Y/n. "Hmm?" She said while putting her hair up. "I've heard around someone fancies you." She raised her eyebrows at her. Draco eyes widened slightly, could Pansy have known?
"Oh really? And who might this person be?" Y/n asked curiously. "He's a Hufflepuff, I believe his name is Diggory? Cedric Diggory?" Y/n began to feel confused, she had not known anyone from Hufflepuff. She mostly associated herself with Slytherin's. Draco began to fill with jealous. An older guy liking Y/n?
"How could he possibly fancy me? I don't even know him?" She asked Pansy. Pansy shrugged, "That's what I've heard. I mean who wouldn't fancy you, you're gorgeous...right Draco?" Pansy looked over at Draco. "Mhm, any guy would be lucky to have you." He told Y/n. She slightly blushed. "I wouldn't want to be with someone who I've never met. If he were to fancy me and ask me out on a date, I'd tell him no." Y/n sighed and Draco felt relieved. "I wouldn't be to sure." Pansy trailed. "He's pretty attractive." She playful poked Y/n's side making her laugh. "C'mon lets go to lunch, I'm hungry." Pansy said as she offered her hand to Y/n. She grabbed her hand as they left to get food.
Draco looked at Pansy and Y/n's intertwined hands, he wished it was him holding her hand. He knew the two girls were best friends and both of them would constantly be touching each other, but not in a flirty way. Pansy was just like that and after a while of always being with her, Y/n got use to the fact she'd always want to hold her hand or arm whenever they left somewhere. It wasn't a problem until now, when Draco saw how close the two girls were, he wished to be like that with her. Except he wanted those gestures to be flirty and to actually mean something.
After a couple hours of being in the common room it was time for Draco's quidditch practice. Y/n quickly grabbed a sweater before heading out with Draco. After the first game she became interested in quidditch, but only to support her friends. As they got to the field Draco told her to sit on the benches. She nodded and observed around her.
"Brought your girlfriend Draco?" His teammate teased, making the others laugh. "Shove off, she's not my girlfriend." Yet he thought.
Practice began and the team was split into two, playing a game of scrimmage. Every so often, Draco would look at Y/n, she would always be looking at him. Occasionally a few glances at the other players, but mostly him. She would cheer him on, making Draco feel more confident. The game went on for a couple more minutes, Draco ended up catching the stitch, yet again. His team won the game, he looked over at Y/n, who was now running towards him. She gave him a tight hug and laughed softly, "Maybe you are the greatest seeker." She told Draco, making him slightly blush.
