Sohma Akito Arc, Chapter Six: A Dark Warning

Akito: So, how did it go? (Sips on tea)

It is a few days after his official filing. Akito had been busy with the signing of the Cat Room's Destruction, so they are meeting up to get ready for the celebration of it's destruction.

Ben: It worked out. A friend of a fellow member will take the case too.

Akito: (smiles) Wonderful. Thanks for doing all of this for me, by the way.

Ben: No no no, it's okay. (Laughs) I'm okay with it. Are you ready to meet all the Zodiacs again?

Akito: (adjusts her kimono a bit, smiles nervously) I'm very very nervous, honestly. This might not work out. I've abused all of them. Kisa, Rin and Yuki will find it difficult to accept me.

Ben: (smiles softly, takes her hands gently) You can do it, Akito. Remember what we practised.

Akito closes her eyes, remembering what Ben had just taught her; breathe in and out deeply, apologise as sincerely as she could. Don't expect anything from them.

Akito: (opens her eyes) Okay, I can do this.

Ben: (grins) That's good to know.

A knock is heard in the door.

Akito: Come in.

Tohru: (opens the door) Akito-san, it's time to go.

Akito: (stands up) Okay then. Let's go.

Ben: (gets up as well) Well, I should go call my siblings to check up on them, so I'll leave with you.

Tohru: E-Eh, okay then.

Suddenly, Akito bows to him, confusing him.

Ben: Akito-san?

Akito: Thank you. (Smiles again) You've helped me so much. Thank you.

Ben: (Laughs) Don't worry. Now scurry along. You don't want to keep them waiting.

Akito: (smiles) Alright then.

A few minutes later, Ben is waving as he watches them leave in Kureno's car.

Ben: Okay! (Stretches) Time to deal with the paperwork and to send Megure-kebu the testimony paper.

He walks to his room, and opens it, only to freeze up as he comes face to face with someone trying to open his computer. When the person notices him, she closes it and turns to him.

?: Well, look who it is.

Sohma Ren.

Ben: Sohma Ren. (Cold tone, he closes the door behind him) What do you want with me? Why are you trying to hack into my computer?

Ren: (frosty smile) Well, you're quite blunt, now, aren't you?

Ben: Tell me. Right now. After that, leave my room.

Ren: (laughs) I think you know the answer.

Ben: You're here to destroy the evidence, aren't you? (Eyes narrow)

Ren: (claps) Bravo. You truly exceed expectations, Ben Cipher.

Ben: Quit the nonsense. Who do you think you are?

Ren: I could say the same for you.

Ben: Don't compare yourself to me. I've done worse, but I've repented. You, on the other hand, tormented Akito so much she's turned into what she was. Thank God Tohru helped her. Otherwise, I'm sure she would have gotten worse. 

Ren: (scoffs) Quit playing hero. She's not worth saving.

Ben: Actually, I can say the same to you, Ren. Your actions are horrible. (cold) So leave my room before I have you taken away for privacy violence. 

Ren: Oh very well then. (gets up, opens the door, turns back slightly to him) But I won't make it easy for you. I'll make you and your family's lives miserable. The worst you've seen in your life. 

Ben: We'll see, Ren. We'll see. 

She soon leaves, leaving him there.

Ben: ...... (shakily takes in a deep breath as he collapses on the floor) That... was scary.
