my body is overflowimg
the world is still so beautiful
with old, yellowed wallpaper dirtied and peeling
with clouds expansive and big and colored like dark cotton candy
with larger than life theme park rides, clowns on stilts smiling and waving

with lighter red stripes over off-white
and close-ups of grains of dirt and specs of dust
and the dust bunnies and tumbleweeds of cat hair in the corners of your grandparents' house

they're all still there
you only have to slow downtown see them

lay down in the dark on your bed
or on your couch
and make the room quiet and still
with that trusty old fan still running in the background, moving the air around
and close your eyes
and run your fingertips along the wall

feel where it is cold
and where it is neutral
feel its bumps and its smoothness
wonder who put it there
wonder who will draw on it in future timelines

remember the complications and stresses and paperwork of your modern Life,
yes,
but take with you this stillness and childlike wonder of spirit

take with you the stillness and the quiet
trail your gaze slowly over my words
why are you always rushing?
there is no rush.

sit down with me and stop,
because you're running too fast to have any fun
you can do everything later,
and you will do it all later,
but right now you have to stop and slow and listen to me

trail your fingers and hands along the wall
maybe then you'll remember why you came here to read me in the first place.
