When my potions essay was finished Tom walked me back to the common room so he could patrol the halls. I was surprised when they didn't strip Tom of his Head Boy position because of the amount of trouble we were in. Perhaps Slughorn vouched for him or something. Either way I'm sure he was quite relived. The girls were still not back from dinner so I begged Maggie to preform a check up on the baby and what I found found would change the course of my life forever . Maggie said she would be able to hear the baby's heart beat to make sure he or she was doing okay so I waited a few minutes in anticipation to hear the results. "This doesn't seem right," Maggie said suddenly as she looked for the baby's heart beat. "What's wrong?" I asked worriedly. She stayed silent for a few more moments before speaking once more. "There's more than one heart beat here," she said suddenly. "What? Wait, are you sure?" I asked her in a state of absolute shock. "This is the first time Maggie has heard two separate heart beats," she whispered as she continued double checking. "Are you saying I'm having twins?" I asked her slowly. "I must notify the Dark Lord at once," she said confirming my question. I took a deep breath trying not to panic. "Oh my goodness I'm having twins," I said aloud. I surprised myself as I began nervously laughing in a reaction to this news. Things just got even more difficult.

No wonder my stomach is larger than I believed it should be. "Do you think you can see the genders?" I asked Maggie trying to keep calm. I closed my eyes as she once more looked on the screen of her high tech medical appliance she had been sent here with. I slowly opened my eyes to see the fuzzy image of the children inside me. I couldn't believe it as I saw the two of them huddled so close together. I'm actually having two children, I'm at a loss for words. "Well it looks to Maggie that this one here is a girl," she said to which I smiled happily. A little girl. "And the other one?" I asked. "It is difficult to see but if Maggie is seeing clearly this baby is a boy." I gasped in amazement as a tear slipped out from the corner of my eye as I laid on my back watching the image of my children. I couldn't keep this information to myself, I felt so full of excitement; I just had to share it with someone. The only person who I wanted to share it with happens to be patrolling the corridors at this moment. I didn't give it any thought as I got up from the bed and slipped on my shoes. I was afraid of this new found news, but I couldn't hold back the excitement that seemed to surge through me. It's like all the sadness from everything else going on just seemed to slip away. I would soon bring both a boy and girl into this world. My very own twin babies. I felt so much love for the two children inside my stomach. I ran from the common room in the direction I believed Tom would be.

After searching the halls I finally spotted a light at the end of the coridor and ran straight for it. "Roslyn?" I heard Tom ask as I ran up to him smashing into his body wrapping my arms around him. Giddiness pulsed through me as I hugged him. "Why are you out of bed at this hour? Has something happened?" He asked as I pulled back from him. "Yes it has," I said, not sure how he was going to take this news. I hadn't really thought about what his reaction would be. Might as well get it out of the way. "Its a boy," I said excitedly. I noiced the ghost of a smile on his face when I said this. I know he secretly wanted it to be a boy. "But it's also a girl," I added to which he furrowed his brows in major confusion. "Maggie says we're having twins," I said with happy/ nervous tears in my eyes. His eyes widened as he looked down at my stomach "There's two of them in there?" He asked clearly in shock. "I'm so excited!" I said happily as I bounced on my heels. "Okay hush now I know you're happy but if you're caught out here with me we'll be in even more trouble," he scolded. "I'm sorry, I just couldn't wait to tell you," I said quietly. "I know," he said looking down at me with an unreadable expression. "Another mouth to feed," he said after a few moments rubbing his forehead in stress. "Don't think of it that way," I whispered to him. "I was only expecting one," he said looking back down at my stomach. "Two wasn't exactly part of the plan...but at least we get a boy and a girl," I said cheerfully. Tears began to fall from my eyes. "Why are you crying?" He asked quietly. "I'm so happy," I said between tears. "Are you mad?" I asked as I noticed his pensive expression on his serious face. He shifted his hard stare to meet mine and his eyes slightly softened. "No, I'm not mad," Tom said. "I'm just adjusting to the idea," he added. "Two children," he breathed. It's definitely a repeat of when I told him I was pregnant the first time. "It will be okay. We can do this," I reassured him. He looked down at me once more before placing his arm around my waist. "Come on I'll lead you back to the common room," he said. I stepped out of his grasp and looked up at him defiantly. "No I want to stay with you," I said. I felt so many emotions I didn't want to leave the presence of the only person who knew my whole truth, the father of my children. I felt some sort of comfort in being here with him. If I left now I'd be up crying all night. Curse these crazy emotions. "You can't stay here, you need to get some sleep," he said. I could tell he was trying to avoid a mental breakdown as he told me this slowly. "No," I pouted as I walked closer to him leaning into his side. I heard him sigh as I did this. I know he didn't like when I defied him. "Roslyn there will be plenty of time to spend together once the children are born. Trust me I'm preparing for it myself," he said obviously not particularly loving the idea of us living together. Or at least that's how it seemed to me. I immediately stepped away from him. "That's so mean," I said completely switching from clingy to sad. I just wanted someone to share my excitement with. "Fine I'll go, but don't follow me," I said clearly upset as I spun around and began walking off. "You're over reacting," he called after me but I didn't acknowledge him as I continued walking away. Great now I'm going to start sad crying. "Stop crying," he said to me as he easily caught up to me. "No," I said angrily as I continued to cry. He stepped in front of me and took hold of my shoulders. "Be quiet you'll wake the portraits," he hissed at me. I looked up at him with tears in my eyes seeing the stern look on his face. I suddenly rushed forward wrapping my arms around him continuing to cry into his chest. I heard him sigh in defeat as I did so. Very slowly did he begin to snake his arms around me providing the first act of comfort I've received from him in this way. "This girl will be the death of me," I heard him mutter into the night air. I think he decided to just roll with it this time. Usually he just keeps snapping at me to stop crying, Perhaps he's found another way to deal with my emotions. I didn't quite mind this method. He held onto me for a few moments as my tears subsided and then unwrapped his arms from me placing them on my waist pulling me back from him. "Are you finished?" He asked to which I nodded wiping away my tears. "Let's get you back to the common room then, and tomorrow I'll bring you a muffin in the morning," he said as he wrapped his arm around my shoulders and lead me forward towards the common room. "Really?" I asked with a small smile on my face. He seemed to replicate my smile as he noticed he was able to manipulate my mood much easier this way. In truth I think he sort of liked it. Perhaps he finally realized dealing with me with anger and annoyance just made it worse, you'd think that'd be common sense. "Of course," he said much kinder than I'm used to. Just like that Tom Riddle discovered the secret to dealing with a pregnant woman.
