"My dad is going to kill me!" Ian whined when he got his report card. "Ryley might not be too happy either." I sighed. "You don't understand I told my dad I was doing good in math! And when he sees this he'll know i was lying and kill me!" Ian whimpered. "Well at least I didn't lie to my brother, he still won't be too happy though." I sighed and smiled sympathetically.

I don't know how Ryley is going to react, its not horrible but it's not good either.

Ok, maybe it is bad. Hopefully he won't be too mad about it, he always says grades are not something that tells how smart you are, they show how hard you are trying. So I don't get in trouble for bad grades, he helps me understand what I did wrong.

However this time I just didn't try. I never did my homework for science, there's no point. I lied to Ryley and told him I don't have science homework more times than I can count. He hates lying and I know that! But what was I supposed to do? Tell him I just didn't want to do it? He'd kill me.

Too late now, I have to get him to sign it.

I watch as Ian walks out of the school and wave as he gets into his dad's car. I look around for Ryley but he finds me first. "Hey squirt." Ryley said smiling at me. "Hi." I smile back, obviously nervous. He took my bookbag and swung it over his shoulder. As we walked home I could tell he was in a good mood, which made me feel horrible that I'm about to ruin it.

I waited as Ryley pushed open the door and walked inside before following behind him and taking my bookbag from his hand. "You alright? You haven't said anything the whole walk home." Ryley asked, concerned. "I'm fine." I smiled up at him. He looked like he didn't believe me, but didn't question further. "Did you get your report card today baby?" He asked, watching me rummage through my bag for the paper. "That's what I'm looking for." I said with slight attitude, not enough to get me in trouble but enough to show my displeasure. He shot me a stern look and I tried not to roll my eyes. Usually that would be enough to scare me back into behaving but when you've already accepted your fate its not nearly as threatening.

"Here." I mumbled, sliding him the paper. "I don't know what this attitude is about, but you better fix it." He scolded. I nodded my head not making eye contact. I could feel the tears in my eyes already, its daunting to know that once he reads those grades that I'll be over his knee.

I didn't raise my head while he was reading the paper of doom. I knew that if I did I would loose what little composure I have left. "Are you having trouble in science?" Ryley asks. I think before I answer, if I say no then he'll ask about the grade but if I say yes he won't spank me but that would be lying.

"Yes" I hear myself blurt out before I could stop it.

"Alright then I'll make sure to help you out more with that class. Do you just not understand or is it the teacher?" He asked. I found myself debating again, if I say I don't understand than I'll spend hours working on extra homework with Ryley.

"The teacher." I blurt out again.

"What's going on in your class?" Ryley asks confused. "Well the teacher just doesn't like me, I ask him for help but he just says I should understand and moves on too quickly." I whine, trying to make my lie sound believable. I finally look up at my brother, he has that look on his face. The angry protective brother look, his next words shock me. "I'll call the school and schedule a meeting with him tomorrow during your lunch period." Ryley seethed, already pulling out his phone. "Bubby don't do anything crazy, really its fine." I plead, starting to get nervous. "I'm not, just let me handle this Oliver." He said sternly, cutting off any other arguing.
