A Part Of It (Avengers)

Chapter 46

I needed to think about something else, I needed to take a breather and I exactly knew what would help me, Aly. I decided to make my way towards uncle Nick's room and knocked waiting for him to open the door, with a smiling Aly in his arms, and as soon as she saw me she made grabbing hands for me to pick her up and I did. I took her in my arms and sat on one of Nick's sofas, he sat in front of me and looked at me not making any noise.

"It's creepy when you stare at me like that." I laugh at him and at Aly for repeating the word 'creepy' with her small voice, laughing at herself probably at how funny it sounds.

"Well I was hoping my gaze would make you talk but apparently I need to use my words. What's going on M? And overall, how was Asgard?" he asked, I hadn't told him half of it yet, and I planned on telling everyone tonight and invite them for the coronation, I took a deep breath and told him everything, from everything that happened in Asgard, to what happened a few hours ago with Peter, slightly leaving the Bucky part out, not really on purpose, I just didn't think it was necessary to tell him.

"Well damn." was all he said, he was super dumbfounded when he got to know that I actually should be the Queen of Asgard and all that, and was happy that I chose to stay on earth, I was looking at Aly,

"I could never leave you guys!" I tell him as he comes and sit next to me putting his arm around my shoulders, my head resting on his shoulder. We talked some more and I felt at peace, for the first time today, I felt home with my uncle next to me, my baby sister that was growing, soon to turn 2. I watched her get up and hold herself on to the coffee table her little legs all wobbly, I never wanted to leave her for so long again, it was a promise made to myself and I really hoped I could keep it.

"How about we go have diner with the rest of the team and you can tell them all your marvellous adventure?" he asked me and I looked up at him smiling slightly and nodding, but before he could get up, I threw my hands around his waist and hugged him tightly, 

"Thank you so much for always being here Uncle Nick." I said, I needed this embrace so much, yet I felt like he needed it even more than me, he hugged me back and after a while we finally decided to make our way out of his room, Aly in my arms as she was making bubbles with her mouth, 

"Well look who is here!" I heard Tony say as soon as I entered the kitchen, uncle Nick behind me, he came towards me and gave me a quick hug,

"Hi Tony, how are you guys? How's Pepper?" I asked him and saw him smiling brightly at me instantly, 

"She is doing great, thanks." he said, his eyes full of truth, he really was thankful and not only for my question, I was really happy to see him like that,

"Auntie Nat." I hear Aly say while making grabby hands to Nat, she came and took her quickly in her arms, my mouth agape,

"That's what you get for leaving for too long." she said sticking her tongue out  at me, I put my hand over my heart, fake hurt, but she was right in a way, I brushed it off and went to sit next to Nat on the couch, while we saw Bucky cooking, I wasn't mad at him but I really didn't want to talk to him for the time being,

"So when are you announcing to everyone what happened back up there?" Nat asked as Steve came and sat in front of us, a growing tension between the two, I didn't want to pry so I didn't try to read their minds or feel their feelings,

"I guess, during diner." I tell her, brushing Aly's hair softly with my hands, before she whined a bit, meaning she was most likely hungry and sleepy,

"If you want I can-" Nat started, but I cut her off,

"No it's fine I will make her bottle and feed it to her, I missed that so much." I tell her a regretful look on my face, I couldn't help but feel guilty, but part of me knew that I had to do it, I got up and made my way towards the cupboard where they had put a lot of baby bottles and plates and bowls for Aly, I took a big bottle and prepared her milk. I knew that later I will have to give her a apple sauce pot or even a small soup, she was into eating solid stuff but when she was tired like now, it was her milk and a nap that would do the trick. I saw Bucky looking at me from the corner of my eyes, but I made my way out of the kitchen while the bottle was heating up, one because I didn't want to talk to him and second because I wanted to grab Aly's favourite blanket so she could snuggle against it while drinking her bottle.
