"This is utterly ridiculous." Burt heard as he entered the police station to check on Mason. He had dropped the boys off at the apartment. Brandon was laying down for a nap, Byron was starting his lessons while Brian and Butch were going out so they would not disturb either.

"Mister Shaw please calm down." The pot bellied sheriff named Tompkins said.

"Dont tell me to calm down." Mason Shaw senior screamed. "I'll calm down when my son is in the hospital getting the treatment he needs."

"Please Mrs Shaw tell your husband to lower his voice."

"The only thing that will result in his me raising mine." Mason's stepmother said. "The treatment of my stepson is abominable."

"Its downright criminal." An enraged Mason said.

Colleen Shaw then said "Several of your deputies have agreed that he should not be here."

"Yes I know his stepsister...

"Its not just his stepsister saying this." Mason senior said. "Its several of your deputies who say he should be in a hospital including your own son."

Tompkins blinked in surprise.

"Yes Will has said he does not know why he is not in a hospital." Mason senior fumed. "It boggles my mind that my son is rotting in a prison cell being denied medical treatment while the monstrous woman who shattered his mind gets to lay in a comfortable hospital bed."

"Which she is handcuffed to."

"She should be in a cell." Colleen said. "There is no justification for him to be kept here for so long."

"Have you forgotten he physically assaulted his own mama." Tompkins said in anger. "He put his own mother in the hospital."

"Come on Colin you know Mason. You have known him since he was a little boy. And you know that he would not have hurt his mother unless he was pushed beyond his breaking point." Mason senior said. "Get my boy to a hospital."

Tompkins then noticed Burt. "Burt." He said. "Please talk some sense into them."

Burt walked over to them. "They are not the ones who need sense talked into them."  He looked at him with indignation. "You do."

"Now a wait a minute..."

"No you wait a minute Colin." Burt said cutting him off. "You are keeping a young man who has completely shut down locked in a cell. A young man who has stopped eating, who has stopped using a toilet." His eyes than bulged. "And I swear Colin if he has been sitting in his own waste this entire morning there will be hell to pay."

"In his own waste?" Colleen looked at him in horror.

"Yes." Burt said. "He hoped pooped himself during the night."

"Dont worry Will and Chet cleaned him up." Tompkins said.

"I want him out of hear now!!!" Mason hollered as he slammed his fist onto the front desk.

The desk sergeant then said "I think you should let him go Sheriff." The sheriff gave him a nasty look.

"Come on sir the poor kid needs help." The deputy said. "Keeping him here is cruel."

"Its inhumane." Burt said.

"Look this is my jail and if I say he stays he stays."

"I don't think so sheriff."  A woman in her mid thirties said. "I am Mister Shaw's lawyer."

"I know who you are."

"And I am sure you know who Judge Noel Adams is." She said. "He is the judge who signed this court order placing Mason Shaw into the custody of Victoria County hospital." Two paramedics then walked in.

"These other two gentlemen are Texas Marshall's who are here at the behest of Mayor Adams and the county attorney General Violet Winters to make sure that he is put into their custody."

The deputy picked up the phone. "Please bring up Mister Shaw."

"Now wait a minute." Tompkins said.

"The family of Mister Shaw are beyond waiting sheriff." She said. "And so are the courts. Any attempt to interfere with the transfer of Mister Shaw will be seen as contempt of the court order."

Tompkins then sighed. "Fine take him."

"The Shaw and Johnson families appreciate your cooperation Sheriff Tompkins.

A few minutes later Mason was escorted from the cells. A blank expression was across his face as he stared off into the distance.

"Mason." Colleen broke out into tears and wrapped her arms around him. He just continued to stare ahead.

Mason senior walked over to him and said "You are going to be okay son." His voice then broke. 'You are going to be okay."

Burt's heartbroke as he walked past. "Burt is here too son." Mason senior  said. "We are all here for you."

Burt wiped his eyes as the lawyer then said "Understand if I find out that Mason has been mistreated in a way shape or form I will be suing this department."

"I assure you has not been mistreated."

"Being denied medical attention is mistreatment." Burt said as he glared at the sheriff.

Tompkins shot him a dirty look. "I need to get to my office."

Enjoy it while you can Burt thought because you won't have it for very long when I'm done.

Mason senior walked in and said to his sister. "Thank you for getting him out of here."

"You're welcome."

"Burt thank you." He said. "I'll give you any updates."

"Thanks."

Mason senior hurried out while the the sound of the ambulance siren could be heard.

Burt then sighed. "Okay Mason is out but Elizabeth should be here."

"Tompkins should be receiving that order from Judge Adams as well." She said. "The doctors have given her a clean bill of health and said there is no reason for her not to be discharged."

"Thank you again."

"Burt."  Burt then saw his brother in law Stan being led from the cells. Burt thought that he was probably being taken to his bail hearing.

He does not deserve it.

"Is it true?" He said. "Did that little bastard attack my sister."  He barred his teeth as he spoke.

"Excuse me." Burt walked over to him.
"Its true."

"I'll kill him." He said as his eyes bulged.

"Do you know why?"

"Some nonsense about Elizabeth abusing him."

"Its not nonsense." Burt said. "She abused him and my son Ben."

Preposterous." He said. "Lies. My sister would never...."

"And Stan junior too."

Stan's face then fell. "What." He shook his head. "No."

"She did." Burt said. "Stan junior told his grandmother about it."

His face then darkened as he said "That disgusting bitch." He then snarled. "I'll kill her." He was then led away and he could be heard one more time saying "I'll kill her."

He then said to the deputy. "When will my wife probably be here."

"Probably in an hour."

Burt looked at his watch. "Ill see you in a hour then. I have some papers for my wife to sign."

He then walked out hoping this will be the last time he ever speaks to her.
