Reine Kakara watched the whining wind blowing itself off across the stiff fields of spiky grass through an open window. The wind made sketches in the snow, separating the white on top and the light green grass below. Aside from the eerie sounds of winter, being in Winturn made Kakara feel at peace, more calm than she had ever felt in her life, aside from Petora.

She recalled her childhood with Maxis, where a constant onslaught of noises battered her ears. There was none of that here. Only the quietness. She could see why people like Ishthrylla and Victoria would find that to be disturbing. She couldn't help but scoff.

Nëo would fucking hate this place. That or she'd keep making noise to force everyone else to try and stop her. Good luck with that. Her expression became desolate. If there was a time where she needed Neosa's winning mentality, it was now. Really. She would kill to see that winsome smile. She wanted to be annoyed by her sister.

Gëne. He came to her mind more clearly. How could he not? They were very much alike as two Moons. They understood each other better. She could see him fitting in seamlessly here, oddly enough. He'd probably just make art along the walls of the castle.

She wondered if their silent months on Mad Scar where they only used hand signs to communicate came from something within her. Did she suggest that? No. Genesia did. To preserve their scrambled sanity. Must have been our binding bond for him to have guessed so correctly.

Because she had noticed her mother's clan using that when weren't whispering discreetly. Their faces would remain as empty as empty could be. Except the eyes. From an outside perspective, she could see how easy it was for people to label her people as emotionless and nothing else.

There definitely was truth to that, no doubt, just not all encompassing. Her people emoted extremely faintly, through micro expressions and hand signs, like they were deaf when really, they just preferred to communicate through a language of silence.

Urielle had been teaching her the most. She was grateful to her. In fact, she could safely say that she did like her petrifying company.

Kakara glanced to the side. Speak of the angels and they shall appear. She saw Urielle approaching. Minaleese was next to her. They walked through the emptied hallway.

Kakara stood outside one of many rooms in the Ice Castle, on the fourth floor. Carisse was inside. She had called them for some explanations she had omitted to clarify. The first concerning her orchestration of everything when it came to Minaleese and Kakara.

The second being Maxis. Kakara found it disturbing how she mentioned him almost as fondly as she mentioned Minaleese. The Father and Mother of the Cercians, making her and Gabrielle the Daughter and Son.

Hmph. Papa Ren would have something to say about that. She could just hear him sucking his teeth and smacking away all of Maxis's credentials like they were child's play. She liked whenever he would talk shit about Maxis. She believed him too. It made her feel all fuzzy inside, having not just the strongest father, but the warmest one as well.

She narrowed her eyes, focusing. Something was up in the air the more Kakara stared at Urielle's face. Her eyes went from Minaleese's to Urielle's. She heard Minaleese whispering to her, and saw Urielle either nodding or shaking her head. Her impassive expression never changed one bit.

When they caught up to her, Kakara blurted out her question. "Urie, are you my cousin?"

"Oui," Urielle didn't hesitate to answer swiftly.

Well that clears that. Kakara sized her up more. There were some hints of resemblance. She turned to Minaleese who looked back at her, rather perplexed.
