Marching with an army was a feeling Leoni loved. Not that she loved war but she loved the prewar buzz. Walking side by side with Lexa everything felt giddy. The butterflies in her stomach fluttered rapidly.
"Remember what Kidra says don't be a hero unless you have to" Lexa said. She was nervous
"Yeah I know" Leoni replied carefully
"I'm serious Leo! Let me be the Commander ok? Don't go dying" she said keeping her eyes facing forward
"Yeah...yeah I won't" Leoni assured
"Promise-"
"I promise!" Leoni linked her pinkie with Lexa's
"You'll stand watch with the weak links" Lexa said suddenly

"Don't argue"
"You're putting me on baby sitting duty?"
"I said no arguing Leok"
"I'm not arguing I'm confirming!" Leoni pulled her hand away "I'm going with Octavia!"
"No. Octavia can go with you if she desires but I'm not having you on the firing line"
"Why do you do this Heda! Seriously! I've had almost identical training to you I'm 10 times better at fighting than the majority of the numb nuts that call themselves your guards! Let me fight!"
"Please-"
"Tell me how to prove that I'm worthy of fighting by your side! Seriously it's driving me crazy you can't just let me-"
"I CAN'T LOOSE YOU!" Lexa shouted suddenly, shutting Leoni up "I-I won't loose you. I couldn't...I couldn't save Kidra but I can sure as hell save you." She admitted quietly
"Lex-"
"Please just let me protect you" Lexa looked at Leoni and her pleading was more than clear "You're all I have left!" The blonde didn't know what to say.
"What if I take Octavia to the Reaper tunnels instead. We get Bellamy and the others instead of fighting?" She compromised. Lexa let out a stressed breath
"Yeah that's fine" she agreed
"That's fine?"
"That's fine." The 2 girls went back to silence walking confidently
"We're good at what we do Lexa." Leoni assured
"I want to see the life leave Emmerson's eyes" she responded
"I want to see him beg for mercy"
"I can't believe you missed"
"Shut up"
"Somewhere in heaven Kidra is cursing you right now"
"Kidra's not in heaven" Leoni laughed
"Really?"
"nah she's chilling out with the Devil himself"
"Well technically she's in the flame..." they both went silent thinking the same thing
"Can she hear us?"
"I really hope not"
"Kidra!" Leoni whispered "If you can hear us make Lexa hold up the number 4" Leoni squinted
"Don't be stupid Leok" Lexa rolled her eyes. As they walked Leoni's face went so pale she thought she could pass out when Lexa held up 4 fingers towards her
"Lexa that's not funny" Leoni muttered
"What's not funny?"
"That! Holding up 4 fingers it's not funny!"Lexa whipped around to see her hand holding up 4 fingers just before Leoni's face
"Leok I'm not doing that" Lexa whispered
"Shit did she posses you?"
"I didn't know she could do that!"
"How does the flame work?"
"I just kinda know things! I didn't know she could move me"
"What the hell!" Leoni looked at Lexa's hand as if it was God. Then that hand slapped Leoni across the face
"Get a grip Leoni! It's a joke" Lexa smirked
"I hate you" Leoni breathed heavily "I hate you" she laughed
"I love you too" Lexa smirked just as Mount weather came into view and they both went silent. Just silent.
