Another few hours into the walk Leoni was walking ahead, side by side with Shaw, feeling beyond grateful that she wouldn't have to explain his death to Raven. She led the group in silence not really wanting to talk to anyone but the spacekru had spent the last 6 years (that they weren't asleep for) doing nothing but talking
"What kind of civilisation needs a radiation field?" Emori asked, the dots not joining in her head
"One that's trying to keep something out" Clarke answered warily "We need to radio back to the others something horrible could happen without a nightblood" she shook her head, seriously worried about the whole thing
"well we can't do that so for now we focus on ourselves" Bellamy tried to sound positive, sending a brief look to Leoni who hadn't bothered to turn around before getting Clarke's attention "what's up with them? why are they walking ahead?" he asked lowly
"She seems at home with him I-" she started
"How far are we now?" Leoni asked as though she had heard Bellamy's conversation
"The beacon is just up ahead" Bellamy answered hoping to catch her gaze but she didn't turn. She instead started to joke and mess around with Shaw, the excitement of a new world becoming even more thrilling now that she'd saved his life. that made a deep jealousy light up within Bellamy
"Look I hate to make this about us-" Murphy heaved
"Then how about you don't" Clarke snapped. there seemed to be some deeper feud going on between the 2
"I think Heda up there would prefer I did" he snarked and no one protested "our pilot just lost and arm. What now?" He asked
"Emori cam fly" Leoni sighed, giving her orders plainly
"I can?" Emori asked panicked
"I don't know Emori can you or is your being here a waste of my time?" Leoni asked bitterly after she'd turned around and glared at the girl so she knew there was a right answer to that question
"Don't talk to her like that" Murphy told the blonde off
"Can you or can't you?" Leoni demanded an answer
"I'll try...I can" Emori said fearfully
"Then that's it settled now if you'll all kindly pay your attention to the road I just found a set of stairs" Leoni told them, turning to reveal a small set of ascending red brick stairs.
"ladies and gentlemen she's done it again" Miles grinned and started to bound up the steps with everyone else. Leoni watched them go for a second before walking up the stairs and joining Bellamy. Her jaw instantly dropped open as she looked up at the huge castle behind a modest village. It was almost a Disney film! She slipped her hand into Bellamy's and walked forward onto the red dusty floor then into the village slowly. It wasn't unlike Shallow Valley and it wasn't unlike an early Polis before it all went to shit and blood shed! There were tents and ribbons but there also seemed to be a real life here! There were real houses and workshops beside farms and wells. There was a school and a clinic, a mechanics shed and a church.
