Luna walked up the stairs never breaking eye contact with Leoni who didn't have the strength to hide her fear "I am Luna kom Flokru and I'm the last of my clan"
"We know who you are. The Natblida who ran from her conclave" Gaia sneered. Leoni held up a hand to stop her
"Enough Gaia" she spat as her lips trembled "She has every right to compete" Leoni said desperately trying to hold herself together
"It's ok Leok. I won't be running from this one" Luna sneered right back at the flamekeepa
"Luna kom Flokru accept the symbol of your clan" Gaia said as Leoni's shaking hands placed the chain around Luna's neck
"Please don't do this" Leoni begged in a hushed tone. Luna thumbed both of Leoni's cheeks
"I have so much love for you young one but I have to do this." Luna apologised as the two looked at eachother. Luna with love and Leoni with fear.
"And fight with honour as your own champion I suppose" Luna went to walk away but Leoni caught her wrist. They locked eyes as the crowd looked on in confusion and their whispering started
"Luna...please." Leoni pleaded as tears sprung in her eyes. Luna wiped just under her right eye where a tear was threatening to fall
"So beautiful" Luna admired the girls face as she shook from her grip and stood beside Illian "I fight for death!" Luna shouted out to the crowd and murmurs broke out "When I win. No one will be saved." Luna shouted bitterly
"Hush!" Gaia demanded silence from the crowd
"The champions may go arrange their weaponry" Leoni said quickly and the crowd dispersed and the champions filed into the weapons room. Gaia came to stand beside Leoni when she didn't move. The blonde stood there staring into fresh air in horror. She was either about to loose her best friend or her big sister. She couldn't imagine what one was worse. She couldn't imagine what loosing someone else would do to her
"Heda?" Gaia asked and Leoni lost her footing causing Gaia to have to catch her "Ai Heda what is wrong?" Gaia asked worriedly
"Nothing" Leoni's voice shook as she stood back up "I need to talk to her" was all she said before running into the weapons room. She barged past the guards and sprinted straight to Luna, jumping into her arms. Luna held the girl tightly. "I...I love you" Leoni said those three little words to the girl for the first time ever
"I love you too Leok" Luna cooed into her ear as they hugged not caring who saw
"I can't loose you" Leoni whispered
"Once I win we will go to the water. Build a nice house and wait out Praimfaya. We will survive Leok." Luna promised "Me and you dying in peace when our time comes" Leoni collapsed completely into Luna's grip. That would never be. Octavia was going to win she knew it
