When she woke up Leoni was in her bed. A cold cloth dabbed at her face gently. She opened her eyes slowly, screwing her face up at the bright light
"Oh my God I'm dead" Leoni decided through a croaky voice when the white light didn't fade
"no. Thank heavens you are most certainly not dead" Marcus laughed lightly at her dramatics from her side before getting up and closing the blinds so the light was blocked out and Leoni could see properly
"Dad" Leoni whispered happily. She was tired- no - exhausted but the pain pills still had her a little woozy
"You took a nasty blow. Thankfully Clarke fixed you up but you need to take it easy" Marcus told the girl as he came back to sit in a chair beside her bed
"where's- where's Bellamy?" Leoni tried to push herself up all of a sudden panicked but Kane pushed her back down on the bed
"he's ok, he's away making plans with the others" Kane assured stroking the hair out of Leoni's face
"shouldn't you be there mr chancellor" Leoni said wincing as she sunk back into the bed
"no i thought i should stay with you" Kane told her and Leoni's heart swelled to know he chose her.
"cool" Leoni sighed and closed her eyes again
"how do you feel?" Kane asked stroking his daughters cheek gently. it was cut from some of the scrap metal that fell
"like i was stabbed in the gut except it's worse because i wasn't stabbed i was impaled by a falling building and it was my fault" Leoni laughed painfully to herself - at herself
"why did you do it? we could all see the Ark collapsing!"
"it was about to fall on Jasper and i knew he wasn't gonna make it so i saved him- oh fuck, Jasper!" Leoni's eyes shot open and she tried to sit up again
"Is fine" Kane assured pushing her down to relax once more "Thanks to you Jasper is fine, there were no deaths" "that's what makes you a phenomenal warrior, saving your people so selflessly like that" Kane smiled. He then produced a silver tray on which a plate of toast and scrambled egg sat
"no" Leoni denied shaking her head as she accepted the breakfast
"no? Leoni you're the commander they don't give that to anyone" Marcus scoffed in disagreement as he placed his own plate on his lap
"i'm the commander because of my blood and the fact there was no one else, those are the only reasons. if the flame fitted literally anyone other than me they would've given it to them. I am not a phenomenal warrior I'm a fighter at best" Leoni insisted, cutting through the egg and dipping it into sauce
"hey! stop! Anything bad you have to say about yourself you can say to me and I'll give you a thousand reasons why it's not true. You're Leoni Kane! Act like her!" Kane said almost harshly making Leoni laugh
