"What do you think?" Dean asked, his verdant green gaze shifting between his brother and the girls.
Sam shrugged his shoulders lightly. "It's above my pay grade, man." He responded.
"Well, at least now we know why the demons want you so bad." The eldest hunter said, shifting his attention back onto Anna. "They get a hold of you, they can hear everything the other side's cooking. You're 1-900-angel."
"Hey, um, do you know -- are my parents okay?" The young woman asked, sadness laced clearly in her tone "I -- I didn't go home. I was afraid."
The Winchester brothers and the Hale sisters exchanged glances between themselves, none of them knowing how to delicately break the news to Anna about her parents.
All of a sudden, movement was heard in the attic, putting the hunters and Nephilim huntresses on high alert as the footsteps grew closer
"You got the girl." A woman said in a rushed tone as she approached the group. She stood no taller than 5'3" in height with wavy, dark brown hair and brown eyes. "Good, let's go."
"Her face!" Anna exclaimed with fear as she stared at the woman.
"It's okay." Sam assured the young woman. "She's here to help."
Dean scoffed lightly. "Yeah, don't be so sure." He muttered.
"We have to hurry." The woman urged.
Glancing between the woman and her best friend, and also taking Dean's comment into account, Madelyn finally knew who this woman was.
Ruby.
The young Nephilim huntress pulled out her angel blade and immediately made her way towards the demoness, who met her icy glare and stood up to her.
Madelyn internally scoffed at the demon's bravery as her eyes turned a pale, electric blue while she gripped the angel blade tight in her hand.
"Maddie.." Sam called out to her, trying to diffuse any hint of a fight that would unfold.
Glancing towards her best friend, the blonde's eyes returned to their normal blue colour, before she put her blade away while staring at the demoness with distaste.
"Come on.." Dean whined as he watched the younger Hale stand down. "Kick her ass."
"We don't have time for this.." Ruby said. "A demon is coming. A big timer. We can fight later."
"Well, that's pretty convenient -- showing up right when we find the girl with some bigwig on your tail." The eldest hunter stated with suspicion in his tone.
"I didn't bring him here." The demoness replied. "You did."
"What?" He quizzed.
"He followed you from the girl's house." Ruby said. "We got to go now."
"Guys.." Sam called, grabbing everyone's attention as he stared at a white statue that was bleeding from the eyes.
"It's too late. He's here." Ruby stated.
Sam gently took Anna by the arm and rushed her over to a closet before getting her inside it. "Okay. Stay in there. Don't move." He instructed.
"Okay." Anna whispered with a slow nod.
The shaggy haired male closed the door to the closet, concealing the young woman inside before he joined his brother and girls, and took out a flask of Holy Water.
"No, Sam, you got to pull him right away." Ruby said as soon as she noticed the flask.
"Woah, hold on a sec." Dean quickly intervened.
"Now's not the time to bellyache about Sam going darkside." Ruby stated. "He does his thing, he exorcises that demon, or we die."
In a burst of anger, Madelyn backhanded the demoness harshly into the wall and glared at her.
"You are not going to pull him to the dark side either." She warned with an icy tone.
Bringing herself to her feet, Ruby settled her brown gaze onto the young blonde. "Relax, he knows what he is doing." She said.
Madelyn glared heatedly as her eyes turned a pale, electric blue once more but her attention was, however, caught by the door that had slammed open as an older man stepped in.
He made his way up the stairs, to which Sam instantly held his hand out to start the exorcism process.
The demon's eyes turned white as he began to cough but soon returned to normal as he smirked at the tall hunter.
"That tickles. You don't have the juice to take me on, Sam." The demon said and threw the hunter down the stairs.
Madelyn quickly intervened and hit the demon into the wall, pinning him against it as her eyes glowed.
His smirk broadened slightly as he stared at the young blonde. "Angel half breed." He noted and tilted his head towards the eldest. "Two of you."
Madelyn glared and glanced over at her best friend but in doing so, it made her lose her concentration and gave the demon an advantage.
Seeing this, Camryn's eyes turned a pale whitish-blue as she rushed forward in her sister's aid but came to a sudden halt as Madelyn's body was flung towards her.
The eldest caught her little sister in her arms but due to the force of the demon throwing Madelyn across the room, sent them both backwards into a wall.
Dean lunged forward with Ruby's knife in his hand but the demon quickly won their fight.
"Hello again, Dean." The demon said with a smirk, as the hunter stared at him with unfamiliarity. "Come on, Dean. Don't you recognize me? Oh, I forgot -- I'm wearing a pediatrician. But we were so close.. In Hell."
Suddenly, the sandy haired male's eyes widened slightly in shock. "Alastair."
During the chaos, Ruby had made her way towards the closet and opened the door, pulling the young woman out, who released a scream.
Nearby, Madelyn helped Camryn to her feet and settled their gazes on Dean and the demon before they saw Sam sneak up behind them, only to stab the demon in the shoulder with Ruby's knife, barely missing his heart.
Alastair looked at the knife in his shoulder and shifted his gaze towards Sam. "You're gonna have to try a whole lot harder than that, son." He stated.
"Sam." Madelyn called, grabbing the hunter's attention where she silently gestured towards the stained-glass window - the very same window that was in Anna's sketch.
This was their escape.
With firm nods, the best friends quickly grabbed hold of their older siblings and rushed towards the window, shattering the stained-glass as they jumped through it before they hit the ground with a thud.
The hunters and huntresses released pain-filled groans, knowing that they had acquired some injuries, but that was all part of the territory of being a hunter.
