A knock sounded on the door to the hotel room, which grabbed the attention of both the hunter and the demoness.

"Room service!" A voice called from the opposite end.

Glancing over at Ruby, Sam made his way over to the door and opened it only to be met with the familiar sight of his best friend.

"Sam." Madelyn said as she grasped his wrist. "I'm taking you back. Say bye to your demon bitch and let's go."

Sam frowned and remained silent as he continued to stare down at the blonde in front of him.

"Sam." Ruby called to him. "We need to go."

The huntress briefly glanced at the demoness before she settled her gaze back onto the tall hunter. "Go.." She said.

"You hate me already.." Sam stated.

"Yeah, because who cares if you make me hate you more, right?" She quizzed.

"Yeah.." He nodded with a soft sigh. "Why do I even try?"

"Try?" The blonde repeated. "That's just it. You don't try. You never do. You don't care about anyone but yourself."

"I don't care about you?" He questioned.

"You clearly don't."

"If I didn't care about you, I wouldn't be feeling like shit every single minute of every day, and crying when I'm by myself because of how much I've hurt you." He said. "I regret that I never took things further after that kiss we shared. You don't know how much I'd give anything just to hold you in my arms, to see that beautiful smile of yours and to see that sparkle in your eyes instead of the hatred that took over."

Madelyn scoffed with a shake of her head. "You're all talk, Sam." She said. "But it's clear to see that you have made your choice. I'm done. I just hope you do the right thing because this, this is not normal."

She let go of Sam's wrist and took a step back.

"Goodbye, Sam." She said and walked down the hallway, leaving Sam to stare after her retreating figure and wanting nothing more than to run after her.

"Sam.." Ruby called to him, making his shift his sad, guilt-ridden hazel gaze towards her. "You know it was the right thing to do."

"Was it?" He asked, his heart tugging in his chest. "Because it feels like I'm drowning."

Taking a moment to himself, Sam slowly trudged through the hallway with only thing running through his mind

Madelyn.

How did it get to this point between them? How could he allow this to happen?

If he could change things, he'd do it in a heartbeat if it meant that he'd still have her in his life.
