Arriving at the cemetery and finding Cole's gravestone, Sam had immediately got to work in arranging five candles around a pentacle that had been drawn on a cloth - which had been spread over the grave.
He then placed a bunch of sticks in the centre of the pentacle while Dean and the girls watched him from a nearby grave.
"You sure this is gonna work?" Dean asked, glancing up every so often as he paged through his father's journal.
"I regret ever giving this idea." Madelyn mumbled, pulling her leather jacket closer around her body while she scowled at nothing in particular. "It's freezing!"
Sam gave the blonde an apologetic look before he glanced at his older brother. "No, Dean, I'm not sure this will work, but if his spirit's around, this should smoke him out." He replied as he poured some liquid into a bowl.
"This job is jacked, that's what." The eldest Winchester sighed as he closed the journal.
"How so?" The youngest quizzed.
"You want me to gank a monster or torch a corpse, hey, let's light it up, right?" The sandy haired male responded. "But this? If we fix whatever this is, people are gonna start dropping dead. Good people."
"Look, I don't want them to die, either, Dean, but there's a natural order." The shaggy haired male said.
"You're kidding, right?" Dean questioned.
"What?"
"You don't see the irony in that? I mean, you and me, we're like the poster boys of the unnatural order." The eldest brother stated. "All we do is ditch death."
"Yeah, but the normal rules don't really apply to us, do they?" The youngest shrugged casually.
"We're no different than anybody else."
"I'm infected with demon blood. You've been to Hell." Sam stated, watching as his older brother had dropped his gaze to the floor. "Look, I know you want to think of yourself as Joe the Plumber, Dean, but you're not. Neither am I. The sooner you accept that, the better off you're gonna be."
Dean looked up once more. "Ah, Joe the Plumber was a douche." He said.
"Not to mention you two have got an unnatural thing going.." Madelyn pointed out with a smile. "Best friends with half Angels, one of which Dean, here, happens to be dating."
"True." Sam nodded softly with a smile. "So, you three gonna help me finish this?"
With a groan, Dean and the girls got up and moved over to help Sam out with the finishing touches when all of a sudden they heard a voice with a flash of light come from behind them.
"Hey!" The voice exclaimed, forcing the hunters and Nephilim huntresses to turn towards the voice, only to find a man behind them with a flashlight in his hand.
"Uh.." Sam stammered and glanced at his brother and the girls before settling his hazel gaze back onto the man. "Just take it easy."
"What the hell is this?" The man demanded.
"Okay, this -- this -- this is not what it looks like." Dean responded with a laugh.
"Really?" The man scoffed. "'Cause it looks like devil worship."
"What? No!" The eldest hunter replied. "No, this is not devil worship. This -- This is -- this -- this is, uh.." He stumbled over his words, sighing with a shake of his head. "I don't have a good answer."
"We're leaving." Sam said, diffusing the situation.
"You're not going anywhere." The man stated as he took a few steps forward. "Ever again. Sam." All of a sudden, his eyes rolled to the back of his head as he stared at the hunters and huntresses with pure white eyes.
"Alastair." Dean said, recognising the demon as his eyes returned to the normal colour of the vessel that he was inhabiting.
"I thought you got deep fried, extra-crispy." The eldest hunter stated.
"Nah. Just the pediatrician I was riding." The demon replied. "His wife's still looking for him. Its hilarious. Anyway.."
His eyes fell onto the younger hunter, who was visibly fuming.
"No time to chat. Got a hot date with death."
Alastair flicked his hand which sent Dean flying across the graveyard, only to crash into a grave which had knocked him unconscious.
"Dean!" Sam exclaimed.
Camryn's eyes shifted from her usual greyish-blue colour to a pale, whitish-blue colour as her gaze fell onto the demon, who merely smirked.
"I'll get to you half breeds next." The demon said as he turned his attention to Sam, who removed his worried gaze from his older brother.
Alastair's smirk broadened slightly as he raised his hand towards the 6'4" hunter and flicked it towards the side.
