Madalyne's POV

Atlas stares back at me as if I am some stranger who accidently entered his room. His icy blue eyes pierce through me, as if trying to recognize me. I scrunch my eyebrows in deep concern as to why he is acting different all of a sudden.

"Hey?" I mutter, totally confused. Has it been that long that he forgot who I am? Or is he upset for some reason? Either way, I expect at least a response but he stands there like a mannequin. His lips part a bit as if he is trying to form words in his mind.

"Atlas?" I address his name once again only to receive the smile that I anticipated since I have entered the room. With a huge smile on his face, he strides towards me in glee. His whole facial expression is pure joy and excitement.

"Madalyne!!" He screams in my ear, wrapping his arms around me. I ruffle his hair playfully before soothing his back. I hear footsteps behind me as Atlas and I embrace each other. "X!!" Pulling away, Atlas jumps onto his brother next. I look at the scene before me in awe. No one can break the bond Hendry brothers have, not even their parents.

We all soon get downstairs and to the garden where the lunch is being served. Xavier pulls a chair for me to sit before sitting down on the one beside me. Atlas lets out a loud gasp as soon as he sees the delicious dishes before us. Theo takes a seat beside me and Atlas takes his seat beside Xavier who helps Atlas with his food. "So you two back together or something?"

My gaze turns to a curious looking Theo, "Not really. We have gone through a lot. I want to take everything slow."

Theo nods upon my words as he fixes James's bib. "So how's this single-father thing going on?" I ask to which Theo lets out a laugh.

"Great. At the same time quite stressful," I nod upon his words in understanding as he continues, "I am trying to take up the role of both mother and father but I am preparing myself for the day when a grown up James is going to ask me where his mother is."

I flash him a sad smile as Theo kisses his son's forehead, "I cannot say that is never going to ask but I am sure he would understand. I am damn sure he is going to be an amazing man when he grows up." I find myself soothing the baby's hair.

"Right, because he is a Hendry." We both laugh upon his words. "Currently, I am writing a book on this single-father thing...,"

Theo's words take me by surprise as I find myself staring at him in astonishment. "Oh my God! That is amazing! I am so glad to hear!" Both Xavier and Atlas look at my outburst with wide eyes. Theo falls in fits of laughter as I hug him. "I can't wait to read it!"

A realization hits Xavier as he takes in my words. Soon I dig into my food as we all fall into a light conversation with Xavier staring at me every now and then. As soon as I turn my gaze to him, he pulls himself back to reality and participates in the conversation. After a long time, I am having a great time with my closed ones; what else can I ask for?
