Kanbe and the others entered inside the city of Esteras, which was a massive city that was a true modern trade center. Its grace was matched by the backdrop of everclear skies, which helped shape the city to what it is today.
The climate these skies brought were of great importance, but they were also influential when it came to architectural designs, as the vast majority of buildings have been built to great heights, as if to try and reach the blue skies above them.
The streets were made of perfectly shaved stone for the roads where horses and carriages went, and obsidian for the pedestrian areas, which made the streets look really refined and modern compared to other towns. The pedestrian areas had many lampposts that worked with small blue crystals that were filled with mana, which amazed Kanbe since he wasn't that knowledgeable about Terra, and the houses were exactly what someone would expect from a modern era.
The skyline was littered with tall skyscrapers, and they all seemed to be in perfect unison despite being different, until anyone with keen eyes saw the tallest of all the skyscrapers, which was the academy of Esteras.
The academy of Esteras was an academy where people went to study after the obligatory school, but also one of the few that had a part reserved to the Order of Sorcerers, so they could train the new sorcerers away from the more experimental areas of their headquarters. In return, they paid a massive amount of money to the academy and made special programs for those who couldn't pay on their own the fees of the academy, even with the kingdom financial aid.
Lyuda and Edred looked carefully at the skyline, and looked impressed by the sight of the city while following the hero group. That is, until they saw Sumeragi following them without much care for stealth. When Edred noticed Sumeragi, he quickly aimed at Sumeragi's head with his hand ready to use a spell, which made the people get scared and start running away from the area, only to get stopped after running a few meters.
After that, they quickly calmed down and started moving normally without being bothered by Sumeragi or Edred which made Edred feel really nervous.
-Sumeragi: Oh, look. You caught me. Keen eyes, I guess... Or not, just that you just don't suck at perception. Unlike the hero and the rest. Don't worry, I am not into attacking without warning.
-Edred: Why are you here? And why the people aren't screaming or anything like that?
-Sumeragi: You do know about those that my father created to protect us, yet you don't know who they were... Or, in fact, you are just minimally interested in them right now. Well, you thought I lost them or something. No, they were just away for a long time because I didn't want to scare Elise. Yet, in this situation, I called them back from their time with my sister. There's nothing you can do to interfere with that ability as far as I know, and if you interfered with that... Well, you would be killed right away by my comrades.
Edred widened up his eyes and started shivering, while a cold breeze went past everyone, only to show a pale vampire lady who had red hair, red eyes, a scar made by a gunshot in her throat, and a feminine and motherly face and body. This woman was wearing a red gothic dress that not even nobles would use normally, a pair of red heels, and a red hat with a crimson veil that covered her face. In one of her hands, she held a red umbrella that was opened to protect her from the sun rays, and in the other she held an open fan which covered her mouth.
-Lady: Lord Sumeragi, Master is busy with extreme matters for the plan. But that doesn't mean we can rest easy, we should find that one as soon as possible. We both know that slayer is here, after all... This city has all his preferences, even those disgusting maid pubs and brothels with cat ladies, we should quickly exterminate the hero and his party alongside this city. Their heads would appease the lord, at least for the loss of miss Legadonia, and probably would get you some well-deserved reputation.
-Sumeragi: I do agree with you, Yusu. But remember Dad's words, no killing the hero party unless absolutely needed. Do not let your data over what Vizgard did to your former self make you want to kill this group. Keep these people oblivious of what we are doing, the less the order knows... The better for us.
-Yusu: Understood, my lord. I do apologize for my bloodthirsty attitude, I have been seeing so many of these courtesans trying to gain your affection that it has enraged me. Miss Elise is clearly the best suited lady for you.
Edred tried to find a strategy to escape from Yusu and Sumeragi, he was sure that anyone who Vizgard had to eliminate himself would be a danger for him and the party. A danger that shouldn't be bothered.
Sumeragi noticed this, and started to get ready to attack, only to be stopped by Yusu who was smiling widely behind her fan.
-Yusu: Young sir, we just desire to check this city out. We have our suspicions that an old friend of the family is here, and we were following you since we believed that you could know where that person is. But my lord is quick to get angry, and hates doing dishonest jobs like sneaking on someone, which makes him clearly unsuited for stealth. Specially when Mina is here, and he's not the only one. My siblings clearly have that treacherous step-sister of miss Legadonia's son crossed, and would be glad to slash her into sashimi at the first chance they get for it. So, for the best of both sides, we should cooperate.
Edred quickly started feeling like he wanted to assist Yusu, and felt really attracted to her, without truly knowing how or why he was feeling like that. That is, until Lyuda noticed it and made the entire hero group turn to look at Yusu and Sumeragi. After that, he felt like he had been charmed for a moment and was clearly angry with himself for being tricked like this.
-Yusu: Oh, clearly this group makes my blood boil too. Here I was talking with this young sir, only to get stopped by his sister. What a dreadful day, with this scorching sun and such a group of people who would quickly attack me.
Kanbe started unsheathing his sword, only to feel extremely dizzy and fall to the ground, just like the rest of the team. In a matter of seconds, everyone of the team unless August was on the ground while Yusu giggled lightly.
