Three days. It's been three days since I found out that I have to get married to Santiago and it's never been this long since I've been ignoring my brothers. He's tried to talk to me but I'm still so disappointed that I can't face him yet. Whereas Lucas has been putting in effort to make sure I was okay, reassuring me that everything will be okay—but it won't. I know it won't. I've been trapped—and he's also started working his way to get the money back.
"Come in!" My door knocks and I look in my bathroom mirror to see Thiago walking in. God, sometimes I forget we look exactly like each other. He strides in looking ecstatic as always and I know he was only doing it to make me smile.
"Looking beautiful as always, Rei. The genes do really pay off, you should be thanking me." He says, smirking as I turn around to face him.
"Thanking you? These genes are from Mama and Papa. I don't know why I should be thanking you." I roll my eyes back, walking past him to put my shoes on. He lets out a chuckle, watching him shake his head like he got offended or something.
"Maybe you should because I was born two minutes before you." He's so stupid. Holding in my laugh, I scoff, rolling my eyes once again but he doesn't see since my head was lowered down.
"Yeah, I—whatever you say hermano."
"Matias has cooked your favourite breakfast." Thiago changes the topic, blurting in seconds that Matias cooked breakfast making me lock eyes with him immediately.
"Okay and what am I supposed to do about it? Everyone's eating breakfast, I'm not the only one." He cooked me breakfast. Of course, he did. I wasn't one to really show much of my emotions at Thiago but him being my twin, he knew how I was feeling inside.
"Rei, he's trying hard to make you forgive him. You know we had no other choice." He then says.
"That's the thing, Thiago, you did have a choice. Matias did have a choice to say no but he didn't and for all I care he can try harder to make me forgive him. I'm disappointed in him. I'm still disappointed in Lucas. If Papa were alive today—"
"You have to understand that he had no choice, Reina. You know he doesn't want to do this, but he has to." Thiago mutters quietly and I let out a sigh of ache, standing up at the same time to leave.
"Whatever, Thiago, now he has to live with it and watch me get married away." Thiago doesn't say anything after and from his face I could tell he was upset with himself for not being able to do anything.
We walk down together to the dining room and as we walk down, some part of me was telling me to talk to Matias, to listen to what he had to say but the other part of me was telling me not to. That I had to let him feel the guilt of what he was doing.
The room was filled with silence, it already was as we walked in. Lucas and Matias lift their heads up from the table, looking at me with a small smile, "Buenos días." (morning). I greet them back, however, I don't look at them but instead at my nephew and niece and Victoria.
"Aunty Rei!" Juan and Camila, Matias' kids, exclaim at the same time as soon as they see me.
"Morning, my little troublemakers. Did you two have a good sleep?" I ask them, a smile of joy forms on my face as I see the resemblance between Thiago and me in them.
"Yes, Aunty Rei!" I giggle at them, pressing a kiss on each of their foreheads before taking a seat in the middle between Lucas and Thiago. Well, this should be fun. The silence creeps up once again, almost as if no one had anything to say.
