I don't know why but I'm almost nervous to walk in. They must of told him where I went and I just know he didn't like it. Slowly creaking the door open, I step in to see him up against the bed frame and eating something.

Just in seconds, our eyes meet, those brown eyes that I've been longing to see. My lips turn into a small smile, while he does the same. My body relaxes seeing Santi awake, my heart rests to a normal beat knowing he is alive.

"Well, are you just going to stand there or come over to me?" His raspy voice startles me slightly, he puts his food down and I walk toward him, shaking my head because I didn't know how much I missed his voice until hearing him.

"Thank god." A whisper leaves under my breath, my lips meet his and every worry just seems to disappear. His hand landed on my waist, pushing me close and tugging on my bottom lip. But quickly, he pulls away looking bothered and I knew why.

"Want to tell me why you're covered in blood?" He raises his eyebrows, and despite him knowing where I was, he wanted me to say it aloud. I sit on the edge of the bed, I look into his infuriated brown pupils but a hint of relief at seeing me.

"Santi listen to I-"

"I'm listening." His voice was austere, his lips unsmiling, jaw locked into one place that it was clear he was mad at me. I try to take his hand but he pulls away, but somehow I managed to take hold of them without him pulling away.

"I couldn't just sit here and do nothing. I needed to do this alone whether you were awake or not. I couldn't see you injured, unconscious, in pain while everything is my fault." His body stiffens, his hands grip tight around my hand and before he could say something, I stop him. "You got shot because of me. So I had to do the right thing and go after my cousin."

I look away from him, wondering how he actually feels about me doing this. I couldn't dare to look back at him but he uses his index to lift my chin up. "Why are you blaming yourself hermosa?" He questions, I shuffle a little forward as he cups my cheeks.

"You're like this because they're after me. Not you, not my brothers but me." I whisper onto his palm, he sighs as he shakes his head too.

"None of this is your fault. Baby, when will you stop blaming yourself?" He runs his thumb over my lips and I shrug my shoulders because honestly, I have no idea. All I see is that it's my fault, everything that's happening is because of me, and all these attacks are happening just because my uncle wants me.

"When I see them lying dead."

"Hermosa-"

"I killed him. Felipe is dead." I blurt out before he could finish his sentence. His intense gaze makes me feel intimidated by him, his lips slowly twitching, not knowing whether to say something or not. "He hurt my husband so I killed him." I continue to speak and what my next words were only made him smirk.

"Did he hurt you?" That's the first thing he asks after telling him. I sigh and lift my wrists up to show the bruise Felipe marked as he was trying to escape my hold. He grunts under his breath, feeling his anger yet he gently strokes my wrists with his thumb.

"I'm okay, Santi," I whisper but he shakes his head like he didn't want to believe it.

"He hurt you." He grinds his teeth together, stopping himself from becoming even more enraged.

"And he's dead now," I say back, this time my hands holding his cheeks. That infuriation in his eyes seems to have disappeared, now I only see the softness he always shows when he's looking at me. "He will never get anywhere near me anymore," I whisper, leaning in to press my lips onto his.
