i glanced down at my guitar as i played a riff i just came up with. i was in my apartment, so i didn't have it plugged into an amp. despite that, it still sounded great. i would, however, need to get into the practice building soon to hear it played through an amp and with my pedals.

after a while, i put my guitar away. i was about to turn my tv on to watch something, but i stopped as my phone pinged. i looked around for it, and i eventually found it under the couch. i turned it on, and i saw that saylor had texted me.

i stood up, and i looked around for my keys and my wallet. once i found them both, i headed out of my apartment and to saylor's. i got there in about fifteen or so minutes.

i knocked on saylor's door. a few, brief moments passed before she opened the door. i looked down at her.

"hello, you," i greeted softly.

"okay, joe goldberg," saylor replied in a teasing tone.

i kissed my teeth. "okay, nope, i'm leaving."

she laughed loudly as i turned on my heels to walk away. she used both of her hands to grab my wrist, so that she could pull me back towards her apartment. "i was just kidding!"

i narrowed my eyes. "you fuckin' better be."

"i am!" she assured with a giggle.

i let out a quiet huff. i glanced down, and i swallowed as i saw the way her hands were still tenderly holding my wrist. she looked down too. she then cleared her throat before she dropped her hands and stepped back.

"here, come in," she murmured. "i'm gonna get the movie turned on. you were on eclipse, right?"

"hell if i know. it's whatever the third one is," i muttered as i stepped inside. i shut the door behind myself.

"so, eclipse," she confirmed as she walked towards the tv in the living room.

as she did that, i wandered into the kitchen. i spotted the cupcakes sitting on top of the stove, still in the tray. i glanced back at saylor before i walked over to the cupcakes.

i grabbed the side of the tray, so that i could grab one of the cupcakes out of it, but i immediately yelped as i yanked my hand away. "fuck," i cussed as i looked at the palm of my hand, which was turning red.

"what happened?!" saylor asked with wide eyes as she walked into the kitchen.

"i tried to get a damn cupcake, and i burnt my hand," i huffed as i shook my hand out in a pointless attempt to ease the pain.

"why were you already trying to get one?" she quizzed as she made her way over to me. she turned the faucet on. "put your hand under the water, it'll help."
