roughly three weeks later, i'm sitting in the practice building. miguel and saylor have been here, while jessie had just burst through the door. her eyes looked around before they landed on saylor. once they did, a grin formed on her face.

"pookie!" jess nearly yelled as she ran over to saylor.

"jessie!" saylor matched their energy, although she was clearly confused as to why they were so excited. me and miguel both had puzzled expressions on our faces.

once jess was by saylor, she wrapped her arms around her, picked her up, and spun her around. "you've been in the band for a year now!"

has it really been a year already?

i've known saylor for a year now... it's weird to think we've been getting along for less than half of that time.

"a year already?" saylor's eyes widened as jessie put her back down on her feet. despite this, jessie quickly slung an arm around saylor's shoulders.

"a year exactly," jj grinned.

"how come you know that, and i don't?" saylor chuckled.

"uh, duh, i'm gonna remember the day i met my pookie," jj's brows furrowed a bit as they spoke in an obvious tone. they pressed a friendly kiss to the side of saylor's head. "me and you are for-lifers, remember?"

i crossed my arms over my chest as i watched with an amused smile on my face. despite the teasing jessie has done in the past, i know that jj and saylor's relationship is strictly platonic.

granted, they've hooked up before... but so have me and jessie, so i can't really hold that against them.

me and jessie hooked up way more than jessie and saylor did, yet i could never see myself actually being with jessie.

so, again... i'm not worried when they kiss each other's heads or hold hands, etcetera.

"so, in celebration of saylor being in the band for a year now," jessie spoke as she turned her attention to look between me and miguel. they still had an arm wrapped around saylor's shoulders. "i think we should take a few shots!"

i shrugged. "i'm not opposed to it."

"well, i didn't think you would be," jessie snickered.

my eyes narrowed at her.

are they saying that because i drink a lot, or are they implying something else?

i glanced to saylor. her eyes widened just slightly, and she gave a subtle shrug. i let out a breath as i shrugged as well.

"miggy?" jessie looked to miguel with a hopeful look in their eyes.

"i don't see why not," he caved. "but i'm taking one. i don't want a hangover in the morning."

"nah, you've gotta take at least two," jess claimed as she brought saylor over to the bar, where i was already standing. miguel followed behind them.

"we'll see," he muttered as he shook his head.

i pushed myself away from the counter, and i turned around to face the cabinets. i opened the cabinet, and i pulled out four shot glasses. once i had that, i looked to the slim selection of alcohol we had left. they all had just a few shots left.

pink whitney, fireball, bacardí, jägermeister, and everclear.

i feel sorry for whoever has to take a shot of everclear. who the fuck even bought that shit?
